On Monday, it was officially announced that FC Dallas had traded USMNT midfielder, Kellyn Acosta, to the Colorado Rapids. In return, the Texas club would receive Dominique Badji, the Rapids' 2019 first round MLS SuperDraft pick, and an international roster spot through 2019.

Kellyn Acosta had been with Dallas for quite some time, as he went through the ranks in the academy system. In 2012, he became FC Dallas' seventh ever homegrown signing. A truly versatile midfielder, Acosta can play any position in the middle of the midfield, and the Rapids will likely test where they believe he best fits the team. Acosta opened with "I’m thrilled with the opportunity being given to me by the Colorado Rapids." Despite a rough season in the Mile High City, Acosta went on to say "This is a club with a bright future and I can’t wait to get started."

In return, FC Dallas gets a 25-year-old striker who is en route to his first double-digit goal scoring season in MLS, as long as things go accordingly in Dallas. The Senegal man already has seven goals, just two off his career high, and has also added two assists on the season. FC Dallas Head Coach Oscar Pareja said "Dominique adds a scoring touch that will complement our roster as we look to stay competitive at the top of the table the second half of the season." FCD currently sit atop the Western Conference and are doing what they feel will most likely keep them there heading into the latter stage of the season.
