Mumbai City FC is hosting FC Goa at the Mumbai Football Arena on the 1st of February in the return match of the IPL 2018-19. The hosts will be looking to win this match in which case they will be in the top position by virtue of the goal difference as compared to Bengaluru FC.
Mumbai City FC
This home match is coming after an amazing nine-match unbeaten run for the Mumbai team after their biggest 0-5 away loss to FC Goa three months ago. In that stint, they thrashed Kerala Blasters 6-1 for their biggest ever win in which Modou Sougou scored four goals before stopping Bengaluru FC’s eleven matches unbeaten run in the last match. Mumbai City has thrived on counter attacks and the players to watch out for are Sougu who will be supported by Rafael Bastos and Arnold Isoko. They have been unbeaten. At the second place in the league table with 27 points, they have only lost the first match of the seven that they have played at home this season.
FC Goa
FC Goa FC with 21 points is placed in the fourth place in the league table and has Jamshedpur FC breathing down its neck. The latter denied them a win in their last game at home where their star their top scorers Ferran Corominas and Edu Bedia both had their shots at the goal blocked. Their coach Sergio Lobera is an advocate of attacking soccer and the Gaurs will be eager to get the three points against Mumbai FC. Zaid Crouch, the midfielder and their latest signing will probably find a place in the starting eleven against Mumbai FC.
Form so far in the ISL 2018-19
As can be seen, Mumbai City is coming after an undefeated run of four wins and a draw into this match while FC Goa has only one win with two draws and two losses in last five matches.
Head to Head in the ISL
Both the teams have three games each in the last nine matches that they have played and three matches ended in scoreless draws.
It is difficult to predict the outcome of this confrontation but Mumbai City FC has the edge over FC Goa. For one, they are playing at home and they have a stronger defence as compared to Goa's. The match will be interesting and played at a fast pace.
