BSC Young Boys showed Basel that their dominance is definitely over and YB sits now on the throne.

In a memorable game YB humiliated FC Basel with a 7:1 that will be remembered for decades in Bern. This was the perfect answer to the 5:1 that YB suffered last year in Basel. Now, after only 7 games, the Leader has already a 10 points advantage over the second placed and 12 to FC Basel, who probably still is the only team who could fight for the championship.

The seven goals were scored by seven different players. This game had it all: lots of goals of all kinds including 2 corners and 1 free kick, 1 red card, a great atmosphere and even a rather funny protest for which the fan basis of both teams worked together.

The fans were protesting against the plans of the Swiss Football Federation to create a E-Sports League. The Young Boys supporters "paused" the game by throwing tennis balls and even play station controllers onto the field in the first half. In the second half, FC Basel supporters also "paused" the match by throwing cut cables.

The Federation wants to obligate the teams which play in the Super League to have a E-Sports Team. The fans argue that this does not correspond to the values of the clubs. Football motivates kids all around the world to do sports, they learn important values like reliability, punctuality and friendship, exactly the opposite from playing alone in front of a TV. They think the Federation is only interested in making a huge profit out of this.

Conclusion

FC Basel left a desolate image. Obviously, when losing this high there is plenty of place for criticism. I just want to refer to one fact I think they should be worried about: 7 games and already 4 red cards. This is a clear sign of frustration and it's really dangerous for the spirit.

While the season is still long and things can turn around really fast in sports, it seems like BSC YB is going to dominate the league even clearer than last year. They dominate every statistic: Fassnacht is top scorer with 5 goals, Sulejmani top assister with 5, most goals scored with 26 goals (3.7 per game!), best defense with only 5 goals against.
