Sweden have again proved they are a quality teams even without Ibrahimovic. They stopped Holland in qualification, beat Italy in play-off, went to knock-out stage from a tough group featuring Germany, Mexico and South Korea, and now they are in quarterfinals. The last time they reached this stage they had one of the best generations playing with K.Andersson, T.Brolin and M.Dahlin. This time this is less of individual genius, more of team work.
This time they managed to derail Switzerland thanks to a lucky goal by Emil Forsberg. Leipzig's playmaker shot from quite a distance, but a deflection turned a shot into a goal completely embarrassing the goalkeeper.
Sweden could have scored their second in the added time, but a very close free kick earned together with a red card of a Swiss defender for the last hope foul was not taken too good by Ola Toivonen. Still the Swedish side are through to the quarterfinals. A deserved achievement they waited for 24 years.
