Simpson was one of the core players that helped Leicester City won their first ever Premier League title in 2016, but In 2019 his contract was not renewed due to old age and loss of form he switched on a free transfer from Leicester to Huddersfield. In Huddersfield he was signed on a year contract but unfortunately the contract ended and there was no renewal talk from huddersfield and Simpson turned to free agents.

Since leaving Huddersfield in the 2019/2020 season he never had any offer from other team, though the transfer is still currently opened and there might be a team in need of his services. Simpson never had any intention of quitting football at 34 years, he believes he can still play more years before he finally put an end to football career.

Danny Simpson has played for several English Premier League teams, like Manchester United where he debuted in 2007/2008 season but in 2010 he moved on to Join Newcastle before moving to Queen Park Rangers. It was from QPR he landed at Leicester City. Since his out of contract, to keep his form he has been allowed to Train in Leicester City.
