When it come to football, one thing that fear most players in the game is the ability to stand in front of pressure filled atmosphere to take a penalty especially when such a penalty kick is very crucial to both teams. When spot kick can lead the opposite team to win or lose the game or probably salvage a draw, the fans of both team often start calling the God they know of and pray for fortune or misfortune for the player who steps out to play the ball.

Last night was yet another night mare for Frank Lampard as he failed to record a single win at Standford Bridge since his appointment as head coach of Chelsea. Lampard whose side were up against Valencia in the first leg of the group H opening games lost all three points at the end of 90 minutes. Some of his decisions during the games were questionable especially the very big mistake that left every Chelsea fans irritated.

Valencia took the lead immediately a defender was removed for a defender and the game turned against Chelsea. Just before the 90 minutes, the referee awarded Chelsea a penalty via VAR.

Every blues fan was happy to at least see us get a point but that left most fans heart broken at the end when Rose Barkley missed the kick. Lampard took the blame but Barkley was bashed. From the pecking order, Jorginho was the man to take the kick even though Willian had indicated interest to play it, even Jorginho was seen asking Barkley if he could take the kick. Any of the players could have missed the kick quite alright but the question is why did Lampard defy such rules at a crucial moment. I mean if a coach wants to boost player confidence or show he believe in him, it should be at a time the point has already being secured not to experiment. Frank Lampard should take bulk of what happened last night and figure things out pretty soon as he gets more exposure.
