Galatasaray was defeated just under 43,000 spectators the Portuguese champions FC Porto 0: 1. Especially the first half had made the lion supporters want more. In the end, however, the Turks failed because of their own inability.

Galatasaray face an unfortunate 1-0 defeat in Porto in the second match of the group stage of tthe Champions League. Especially in the first round, the lion failed to score the opening goal before the condemnation shocked the Turks right after the break and the yellow-reds lacked the playful means to improve their weaker away record this season. Galatasaray are now three points ahead of the pointless Russians, who was defeated by Schalke with 1-0 in front of their own supporters. On the third matchday on October 24, the Turks receive the Bundesliga team Schalke, Porto is traveling to Moscow.

The Champions League encounter at the Estadio do Dragao initially had little to offer the spectators. Both teams shied away from the last risk and strived for defensive stability. The hosts had visual advantages and more possession, the thick scoring chances but were on the side of the Turks recorded. Yuto Nagatomo, Henry Onyekuru and Sinan Gümüs only narrowly missed the lead, while Yacine Brahimi failed in the clear save from goalkeeper and captain Muslera. The Turkish champions were particularly vulnerable to the left defense, but was much closer to the lead until the break whistle than the Portuguese. Iker Casillas saved his team from a backlog with several good scenes.

On the Turkish side, they expected a similar good 45 minutes as in the first half. But only four minutes after the restart, Moussa Marega was left alone after a corner by Alex Telles and headed Porto 1-0 in front. The conceding brought the eleven of coach Fatih Terim from the concept, so that the home side had little trouble managing the lead. Only in the final quarter hour, it was again dangerous in front of the Porto gate. Garry Rodrigues missed completely free-standing in front of goalkeeper Casillas, Gümüs also scarcely missed the draw with his header.

In the end a good match, also for the lions, who showed a strong and superior away game for a long time but lost unhappily.
