Defending champion Galatasaray has beaten Antalyaspor with a jokergoal at the last moment after a brave move by coach Fatih Terim.
The Turkish champion Galatasaray won his guest appearance in Antalya with a 1-0 win and now has 18 points. Through this success, the yellow-reds secured the league lead also beyond the eighth matchday of the Spor Toto Süper Lig out, as no competitor can pass by more. Antalyaspor remains at 13 points and ranks fifth, at least until today, Sunday. After the international break, Galatasaray receives Bursaspor at Türk Telekom Stadium. Antalyaspor travels to the Mediterranean duel to Alanya.
The first half of the game was for the most part quite low on pace. Successful offensive actions were in short supply. So it took more than half an hour to see the first big opportunity. After a corner by Antalyas Hakan Özmert, Ondrej Celustka extended the play area head-on to the far post in front of Diego Angelo in the 32nd minute, who took the ball directly. However, the shot went just over the crossbar.
Then just before half-time break then a critical scene. After a cross from Ömer Bayram Garry Rodrigues and Ali Cissokho rose together to the ball. Moments later, a whistle sounded and referee Cüneyt Cakir signaled to have seen a hand-held by Cissokho and pointed to the point. After his assistants warned him, Cakir helped the video assistant (VAR). After reviewing the pictures, the referee canceled his decision. Thus, there was no penalty. The first half ended scoreless shortly thereafter.
In the second round Galatasaray increased the pressure. But the Turkish champions still did not come to any compelling chances. The best option was by Sinan Gümüs in the 77th minute in the head. But goalkeeper Ruud Boffin was on the spot and parried the header. However, as Galatasaray looked set to lose zero and lost points, 85th-minute substitute Ryan Donk headed the ball into the net and scored the 1-0. Previously, coach Fatih Terim had taken next to Donk central defender Maicon Roque into the game and ordered both defensive forces in the storm to lurk there on high balls. A tactical move that finally came to an end and Galatasaray secured three points.
