Tammy Abraham impressive run in the league for Chelsea continues as he stole the show once again against Wolvehampton with a hat-trick goal. It is now obviously clear that Chelsea has gotten their main man upfront with the young man now on 7 goals in 5 matches for the club. The striker continues to show why the manager Frank Lampard has so much faith in him by dropping French striker Giroud on bench once again.
From the start of the season, many people were saying he will flop with the number 9 jersey but with the look of things now, the striker is ready to erase the jersey number curse. So many players has flopped with the number 9 shirt which make people to reach the conclusion that he would have chosen another number ahead of the season. He now have 7 goals to his name in 5 matches for the club and if things continues to work for him as expected, he may surpass his tally in the championship last season.
There was a little changes to the line up and formation has Alonso replaced Emerson who sustained hamstring injury during the international break while Rudiger also return to the line up after recovering from injury alongside Tomori at the back line. Wolves last season were too difficult for the London club last season has they collected 4 points from Chelsea and the visit to their home means a lot to the Blues manager Lampard. He really knows it is not going to be easy to secure maximum point at Molineux. Chelsea line up in a 3-4-2-1 formation with Willian starting his first league match for the club.
Traore and Jota from the start of the game were so much in the game as both players continues to torment the Blues from the flank but the pairing of Rudiger, Christensen and Tomori at the back was too good for them to break. Wolves struggle against top clubs continues this season when Tomori put Chelsea ahead with a powerful curling shot in the 31 minutes. Abraham doubled the lead in the 34 minutes through a ball advantage after Mount was foul by Conor Coady. The 21 years old striker completed his brace in 41 minutes with a brilliant headed when Alonso played a cross out inside the box of the Wolves and that took the scoreline to 3-0 in favour of the Blues before the half break.
The second half returns and Chelsea are now fully in control of the game with a comfortable 3-0 lead and the Blues manager had to substitute Rudiger for Zouma.
Although no one knows why he did that but it look like he doesn't want to rush the German defender back into play. Abraham in the 55 minutes completed his hat trick to change the scoreline to 4-0 in favour of the blues, he received the pass from Jorginho and perform simple move to beat Conor before placing the ball to the bottom corner of the post.
Wolvehampton returns to the game after Saiss header was first saved by Kepa before hitting Abraham into the net in the 69 minutes and the Wolves now look awake as they continues to control the play until the finally got their second goal through Cutrone in the 85 minutes and now the Blues knows they really need to avoid what happens against Sheffield United by avoiding another two goals from Wolves who were now so dangerous upfront. Mount later sealed the win for the Blues in the 96 minutes and that confirmed the 3 points for Chelsea. Chelsea will now host Valencia when the champions league resume on Tuesday before hosting league leader Liverpool again next weekend.
