The 5th of May 2018 was not only a scary day for the Ferguson family and many of Manchester United faithful, but also for true lovers of the game of British football; as on that very day, the most successful British manager, was hospitalized for an emergency surgery. The legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, who is now 76 years of age had retired from active coaching back in May 2013, after guiding Manchester United to a trophy-laden 26 years, which ultimately cemented him and his place as the most successful club manager in the English game.During his iconic 26 years in charge of the Red Devils, Alex Ferguson had won 38 trophies, and transformed Manchester United into one of Europe’s footballing power house when it came to the modern game of football.

So, when he was rushed for emergency medical procedure, lots of fans and supporters were overly worried; as reports suggested that he had suffered from brain hemorrhage in May and required emergency surgical procedure. After the emergency surgery on the 5th of May, Ferguson remained in intensive care for several days at Salford Royal Hospital withdrawing from public eye for his recovery. Ironically, Sir Alex Ferguson’s last public appearance was on the 29th of April 2018 – just about a week before he was hospitalized. At Old Trafford, on that 29th of April, Sir Alex had presented then Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, with a commemorative award and trophy, as Arsene Wenger was to retire from Arsenal as the manager, at the end of the season.

But in a video publicly released via social media hours ago, Sir Alex Ferguson publicly thanked the hospital staff, for the great care and attention they showed to him, after he underwent the surgical procedure for the brain hemorrhage he had suffered in May.The video which showed the Scots man speaking publicly for the first time since leaving the hospital after the surgery, also thanked his well-wishers and fans for the support they had given to him and his family.Openly grateful for the countless number of messages he had received all over the world, Sir Alex admitted that the entire experience made him feel really humble.

The “thank-you” video which was posted on the Twitter account of Manchester United, also contained his verbal thanks to the medical personnel of the Salford Royal, Alexandra and Macclesfield hospitals where he was attended to during his health issue.Ferguson admitted that he won’t be alive if not for the great care he received during his time at those hospitals for his surgery. He subsequently sent thanks from himself and his family to all the people that played a part in the success of his surgery and towards his recovery.Sir Alex Ferguson who won 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League crowns, five FA Cups and four League Cups, during his time at Old Trafford, has promised to be back later on in the coming season to support and watch the team.Ferguson has also wished current Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho and the players all the best in the coming 2018/2019 English Premier League season.
