In what would be his 79th outside the box goal, Messi finally broke the jinx in yesterday's encounter with Nantes. The Argentine had never scored for PSG since his free transfer from Barcelona and being a player of such pedigree and class the expectations and pressure were much.

Messi's first goal for PSG was in the UEFA Champions League match against the Cityzens and he's went on to score two more goals for PSG in the UEFA Champions League but not a single goal in the French Ligue 1. All that changed yesterday when he got an assist from Kylian Mbappe in the 87th minute and curled the ball to the left side of the post aiming for goal. Alban Lafont's despairing dive did little to put the ball out as the ball settled comfortably in the net. The Argentine is now on four goals all season with PSG three of which was scored in the UEFA Champions League with next week's trip to Manchester City a chance to add to the tally.

Personally to me, Messi scoring his first ligue 1 goal didn't come as a surprise; He's no doubt the greatest player of this footballing era and it was only a matter of time before the prolific goal scoring machine secured his first goal in the new league. To me, he has nothing to prove, whatever he does now only adds a feather to his GOATed crown 👑
