Marko Naletilic claims that sooner or later, Modric will end up playing in Serie A
Luka Modric's agent, Marko Naletilic, hasn't ruled out his client going to Italy when his contract expires in 2021.
"The fact Inter Milan tried to sign him and Modric took it into consideration shows the influence Cristiano Ronaldo is already having on Italian football," the agent told 'Tuttosport'.
"For whatever reason, Modric wants to be a star in Serie A with Inter. Let's see. I believe that sooner or later Luka will play in Italy. Like a lot of Croatians his age, he grew up watching Italian football."
MODRIC TRIED TO LEAVE
The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus is key for Modric, who tried to leave Madrid this summer. His agents spoke with Inter to try and get the player out of Real Madrid. Inter were even willing to offer the player a €10m per season, six-year contract. Four of which would be with Inter and the last two at a Chinese club.
However they were met with a firm no by Real Madrid. Florentino Perez ruled out any possibility of selling Modric and told the player and his agents they'd need to deposit the €750m buyout clause to get out of his contract. Madrid are willing to hand Modric a new deal to bring him close to the top earners at the club, Bale and Ramos, although if his agents continue to push their luck then maybe a new deal won't be forthcoming either.
