Another week of the Xmas festive season and a great Monday to begin with. Hope y'all had a wonderful weekend?? Mine was awesome thank you!!!
Manchester City 3 vs 1 Leicester City.
The Cityzens has just rekindled their title contending spirit after their tremendous home comeback win against the foxes on Saturday. Though still third on the standings, they've closed the gap deficit to 1point behind second placed Leicester and 11points behind table leaders Liverpool (with one outstanding).
Vardy opened the scoring with a cheeky chip but a Mahrez deflected strike, a Gundogan penalty goal and a Jesus Gabriel's tap in was able to do the wonder comeback for City to win the game. With the win, Manchester City are the second team to win as much as much as 250 top fight matches over a decade in the 2010's since Manchester United 255 in the 2000's. City starman De Bruyne(10) also becomes the first man to register a double assist in a single premier league campaign before Christmas since Mesut Ozil(15) in 2015/16.
Monaco 5 vs 1 Lille
Another comeback for the home team during the Ligue 1 weekend encounter. The Nigerian-Lille tallisman puts his side ahead of the host in the 13 minute of the first half. Their joyous Celebration didn't last long as G.Martins levelled the scoreline ten minutes later. Looked like the visitors touched the tail of a wounded tiger as the host kept the goals coming in. Balde was able to complete the comeback before the first half ended while Ben Yedder's brace and a K.Glik late goal increase the goal tally to 5-1.
Bayern München 2 vs 0 Wolfsburg
Bayern lays off their first half of the season with a lucky and unlikely late win over resilient and capable visitors. They spent large amount of time and labour trying to break the defensively sound Wolfsburg. Not until super sub Zirkzee broke the dread luck in the 85th minute. He is making quite a name for himself as he came off the bench and scored in two consecutive occasions. He is the utmost reason while the visitors fell over in the final hurdle of the game. S.Gnabry doubled the lead for minutes after the opener and sends the German giants to 3rd in the league with 33points.
Tottenham 0 vs 2 Chelsea
Lampard gets the better of his old manager Jose Mourinho in a 2-0 away victory in their London derby clash. Williams brace wonderfully secured the grand winning for the blues. His cut in and curled shot into the far bottom corner opened the scoreline while his second came from the penalty spot. Woe for Tottenham as Heung-min Son was shown a straight red card for a reckless tackle on Rudiger. According to Opta, Son Heung-Min is the first player to be sent off three times (vs Bournemouth on May 04, vs Everton on Nov 3, vs Chelsea on Dec 22) in a calendar year in the Premier League since Lee Cattermole in 2010. What a BAD SON he is!!!💔
Atlanta 5 vs 0 AC Milan.
Gracious me with another enormous scoreline from the Italians. It was an official sign off for the winter break in a grand style after hammering their visitors 5 goals without a single reply. The first half individual hustle from Gomez handed the home team the lead while Pasalic, Ilicic(brace) and Muriel added more salts to their visitors injury respectively. Atlanta were just so clinical, punishing an abject performance from Milan.
