West Ham travel to AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday for a tricky match in the Carbao Cup, this could be a chance to put poor past performances behind us or heap on more misery.

AFC Wimbledon

For those unaware, AFC Wimbledon is an interesting club, born out of the move of Wimbledon FC to Milton Keynes in 2003. Wimbledon FC had risen from non league football to the top flight, something that was an outstanding achievement, they even won the FA Cup beating Liverpool in the final, this team was dubbed the 'Crazy Gang' and included a player named Vinnie Jones, the hard man of football now turned actor.

Supporters were understandably upset with the club moving to Milton Keynes (the club are now known as MK Dons) so much so they decided to start the club again from scratch. This team was called AFC Wimbledon and had to start in the Combined Counties League Premier Division, which is level 9 in the football pyramid.

What is remarkable is that in 2016, after 14 years of existence, the club won the League 2 play off final to be promoted to League 1, which is the 3rd tier of English Football, a remarkable achievement. They also had the revenge of now being in an higher division than MK Dons, who were relegated to League 2 last season.

Match Prediction

These ties can be tricky, especially away from home, with the pressure mounting for a result and the home team sniffing blood and nothing to lose. We should really be too good for AFC Wimbledon, not sure if Arnautovic will play or not, that could be a blow if he doesn't.

West Ham really need the win to kick start the season, last season they struggled in a similar tie against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup, the match ended in a goalless draw, with many saying West Ham were lucky not to lose.

I think Pellegreni will put out a strong side and go for the win, so my prediction is a 2-0 win to the Hammers with Anderson getting on the score sheet.
