Newcastle United play Everton on Tuesday night in The Premier League with potentially three new debutants in Eddie Howe's side in Bruno Guimaraes, Dan Burn & Matt Targett looking to bounce out of the relegation zone with a win and all three precious points.

Whether The Magpies can depends upon the results of Watford and Norwich, who play West Ham on Tuesday and Crystal Palace on Wednesday respectively, yet with two home games at St James' Park against Everton and Aston Villa in a week, Newcastle have a real chance to build some momentum after the win against Leeds and watching Burnley and Watford play out a 0-0 draw on Saturday night:

A JonJo Shelvey free-kick in the 75th minute followed a superb run by substitute Javier Manquillo & gave The Magpies a deserved lead for their endeavour and attacking intent with Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock & Allan Saint-Maximin all having decent efforts as well as another blatant penalty shout that Newcastle should have got in the dying minutes which added fuel to belief on Tyneside that the referees are against Newcastle United:

Remarkably, Allan Saint-Maximin, one of Europe's top dribblers according to the statistics has not received a single penalty kick in 72 Premier League matches despite a host of incidents where he could and should have won one leading to disbelief from Newcastle fans and frustration for the player himself and Newcastle's management:

Post-January Transfer Window Newcastle Have A Fresh Start

"When Everton hit town on Tuesday night it will mark the start of the Eddie Howe era at Newcastle United.

From then on Howe will be judged because this will be his team."

Legendary Newcastle no. 9 Malcolm Macdonald wrote in his Newcastle Chronicle column last week that having had a chance to buy his own players in the January transfer window, the Eddie Howe era on Tyneside truly starts against Everton.

With no less than five new players - right back Kieran Trippier, striker Chris Wood, midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, left-back Matt Targett and centre-back Dan Burn - expected to start against Everton all signed on Howe's judgement, its difficult to argue with that.

How Howe is going to assemble his first Newcastle XI with his stamp on signings has been the source of much intrigue and speculation in Newcastle this week especially in home matches which are almost must-win with Newcastle still in a perilous position.

If all new signings start, expect a back four with Matt Targett left-back providing defensive cover for Saint-Maximin to go and play as he did for Jack Grealish at Aston Villa:

Returning 6ft 7in local Dan Burn is a slight doubt for tomorrow after Eddie Howe revealed he has a toe problem in Monday's pre-match press conference but if playing will provide height in central defence, presence in both boxes at set-pieces and good passing and ball skills of his own along with a defensive reliability that will be enhanced possessing as he does "the Geordie chip" which the late former NUFC owner Freddie Shepherd believed gave local players & managers the will to give even more for the cause at their hometown club with Burn already in the form of his career:

New Brazil international signing Bruno Guimaraes, who was officially unveiled to much fanfare at St James' Park on Monday afternoon, immediately spoke of his and Newcastle's great ambition to win The Champions League:

Guimaraes will likely feature in a midfield three with Joelinton & JonJo Shelvey and two wide men with Allan Saint-Maximin and Ryan Fraser flanking Chris Wood completing a line-up which could show a more advanced position for Shelvey, who told NUFC TV:

"At any club, when you get new signings, it gives the players a lift and it creates that bit of uncertainty in terms of you don't know where you're going to be playing and stuff like that so it's good,"

Its perceived Newcastle lack firepower even after the January window but with Guimaraes' arrival, Howe can reshuffle The Toon dice in midfield with a strong Brazilian double pivot allowing JonJo Shelvey - the best striker of a football at the club as he demonstrated with his free-kick against Leeds and goal at Anfield against Liverpool - more licence to get forward and wreak havoc in the attacking third:

Guimaraes's arrival will dramatically change how Newcastle play and control matches with the Brazil international midfielder renowned for his passing ability plus his tackling and combativeness defensively with so many of his stats among the upper percentiles for midfielders in Europe's Top 5 Leagues this season:

On his departure from Lyon, Guimaraes was the third-highest chance creator in Lique 1 and is ranked 3rd in Europe's Top 5 Leagues for progressive passes with 144 with only Liverpool's Trent Alexander Arnold (188) and Man City''s (173) with more so far showing exactly why he was coveted so much by the likes of Arsenal and Juventus:

His defensive attributes will give Newcastle's rearguard the most protection it has received since Cheick Tiote was at his best in The Magpies midfield & Guimaraes combines that steel & work-rate with the passing of a Yohan Cabaye who was also a full international bought from Lique One although Guimaraes stressed when interviewed he is " a midfielder not an attacker. I aim to get the ball to the attacking players".

Callum Wilson would be the ideal recipient of such superb forward passes but Howe revealed in his presser that the England international striker might not be back until "the last few games" of the season and while Newcastle possess plenty of attacking pace in his absence with Saint-Maximin, Ryan Fraser, Miguel Almiron, Joe Willock and even Dwight Gayle, who is still among the 25-man Premier League squad & may get more opportunities to play in front of another pass master, and it'll be interesting to see if Howe and Newcastle look to sign another free-agent striker like Diego Costa:

Everton Can Go Either Way In The Premier League Under Frank Lampard

Eddie Howe's opposite number at St James' Park will be Frank Lampard, not the emotional return for Rafa Benitez it would have been, after the former Newcastle manager was sacked following a dismal run of form for The Toffees leaving The Goodison Park club 16th in the table with just one League win since September.

Lampard's first game was on Saturday in The FA Cup at home and he managed to inspire a 4-1 win against Brentford, who had made four changes to their regular side, and it was the first time Everton had scored four times this season:

It'll be a different challenge at St James' Park on Tuesday night against a Newcastle side fully-focused on Premier League survival and it'll be interesting to see if Lampard - who is sweating on the match fitness of star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin for his first Premier League game in charge - gives any game-time to new signings Donny Van De Beek and Dele Alli and whether he can turn around Everton's ailing top flight fortunes.

Prediction - Newcastle 3 Everton 2
