Most people do not link a digital means of payment to sports, let alone FootGolf. Nevertheless, this can be an excellent match: two Dutch young and innovative products that reinforce each other. A partnership with an international sports tour, by activating the community, can lead to an unique collaboration. At least, that’s what sports marketing and management agency Sporteyes thought when they were approached by the organisation of the FootGolf Capital Cup with the question of whether they could support the event from a marketing point of view. The match with Gulden was made quickly. This unique proposition resulted in a return of almost 80,000 Gulden through a crowdfunding campaign, which at the time of writing represents a value of approximately €7,500. This value can be a higher or lower tomorrow, depending on price.

FootGolf Capital Cup
Since 2013, the so-called Capital Cup has been held annually in the Netherlands. One of the world’s top-rated FootGolf events, with an international playing field and more than 300 participants, from Italy to Japan and from America to Sweden. The tournament has grown into an international tour. This tour will be used to bring Europe into contact with Gulden. During this international (sports) event, the prize money is paid out in Guldens! In addition, it will be possible to pay with Gulden during the Capital Cup.

This year’s Capital Cup will take place in Rhoon, near Rotterdam. This event will serve as the starting point for the European tour that will follow, positioning Gulden as an official partner.

Capital Cup Tour | Powered by Gulden
The Gulden community has launched a crowdfunding campaign with the ultimate aim of presenting the Gulden as an official partner of the European Capital Cup. The Gulden Community has lived up to its strength. In just a week the necessary Gulden were collected so that the partnership is officially a fact. The Capital Cup will carry the ‘Powered by Gulden’ in its name.

The Gulden
The digital payment solution Gulden is intended to give everyone the opportunity to have complete control over his or her own money by means of blockchain technology. There are several decentralised (payment) systems, such as the best known one: Bitcoin, but usually some technical knowledge is needed to deal with this. The Gulden does things differently: it offers a low-threshold method of sending and receiving payments for ordinary citizens. At the moment, more than 150 shops and restaurants can already pay with the Gulden. On a daily basis, the community works together to increase this. This, combined with the Dutch roots, makes the Gulden a powerful payment instrument with a lot of potential.

Meetup
During the tournament, a meetup will be organized for and by the community and for interested parties. A number of sporty, inspiring speakers will give substance to this meetup. It promises to be an interesting and sporty meeting with a large and diverse network.
