Brooks Koepka held off a very strong field, including a run by Tiger Woods,                                         to win his second major of the season. (Img Source)

This weekend, just like the British Open before it, had that magical feeling that shows up when Tiger woods is in contention on a Sunday, especially for a Major.  A costly missed drive on 17 all but wrote the end of Tiger Wood's run for the 100th PGA Championship.  If there were any remaining people questioning whether he can ever be good enough to win on Tour again, I would suspect they have their answer now.

A heavy portion of the crowd was not following the final pairing of the day today as most were occupied with the third-to-last pairing of Woods and Gary Woodland.  All of those people sadly missed what was a near perfect round from Brooks Koepka - outside of some missed putts - and a solid charge from Adam Scott.  The 28-year-old Koepka was on in regulation and within 12' on 9 holes in the final round which tells you just how dialed in he was with his irons.  He only managed to convert on six of those nine putts inside 12' with his misses including one from 6' on the 17th hole just to keep things interesting for a moment.

Koepka has now won two of the four majors this season and that is including the Masters which he didn't even take part in due to a wrist injury.  I had this belief before, but I think that this win should cement Koepka as one of the elite golfers of this generation.  He puts himself in exclusive company as only the fifth player all-time to win both the US Open and the PGA Championship in the same year and keep in mind that his US Open win was a title defense!  The win also catapulted him up two spots in the Official World Golf Ranking to 2nd place sitting only behind Dustin Johnson.

One of the funnier stats from this years PGA Championship is that, with Brooks winning, it seals up the grand slam for Team Nike on majors this season.  Koepka won two along with Francesco Molinari winning the British Open and Patrick Reed taking down Augusta.  All three golfers have a clothing deal with Nike and all three of them also lack a club sponsor meaning that all of them have mixed bags of clubs.

What did you think of Koepka's performance?  Who were you pulling for down the stretch?

**Quite a solid week from a fantasy perspective, look for my PGA Championship recap as well as my projections for this week at the Wyndham Championship to come out on Tuesday or early Wednesday**
