Burglars

Well I did want to write this post yesterday evening but faith decided otherwise. When my wife came home from work she caught burglars breaking into our house red handed. Luckily they ran immediately and no harm was done to her! That is the most important thing. I was home 2 minutes later and do wonder how I would have reacted. I do have the idea that I would have attacked them without hesitation but you will only know when the situation actually occurs.

All rooms were a mess, all closets emptied. They did steal all my watches and the jewelry of my wife. The police was pretty fast with 6 cops. But besides cleaning the yard and the field behind the house, they could only take fingerprints and write everything down.

Also knew that my wife was a stronge women and that was shown last night. She will not suffer from any trauma!

One watch was special to me, it was a Tag Heuer Indy 500 first edition watch from 2004, the wedding gift of my wife to me :(. It was bought at St. Maarten, so I do guess we now have a reason to go back).

It is strange how relaxed we both are about this. We knew that this could happen with the location of our house. But we both slept pretty well last night after we cleaned up the house again. Now we have to arrange everything with the insurance and ask repair man to repair the window through which they did enter!

Golf Trip

But hey it is a sports blog, so I wont bother you any longer with this. Let's talk about my golf trip!

Day 1

This was a boring transport day! We arrived at the hotel around 10 pm local time and had tapas. Was in bed around 12.30 am.

Day 2: Emporda Golf

The bus left to hotel at 8.15 am towards the emporda golf club. When we did arrive their we got the information that the course we did want to play was flooded! They had a lot of rain during the night, but we could play the other course, the forest course, which is what we did.

Well it was a beautiful course. It was the first time that I did play with umbrella trees, they best way I can describe them.

We had some rain during play and the fairways were already soaked! So I did hit a lot of divots without moving the ball too far :(. I would like to play this course for sure again but then in better weather conditions!

Still managed to collect 24 stableford points!
Did walk: 24683 steps and 14.8 km

We were back at the hotel around 11 pm after we did go to a tapas bar!

Day 3: PGA de Catalunya

Leaving the hotel already at 7.15. Pff, early morning. It did rain the complete night and was still drizzling when we did arrive at the golf club.
One beautiful club house and everything organized into perfection. We did rent a buggy there because it is rather hilly. But due to the weather the buggies were not allowed to leave the paths.

It is the longest course I did play so far! Very long par 4s some over 400 meters. Pff, try to reach the green in 2 on those.
When we did tee off, it started to rain again and this rain lasted for 9 holes. The fairways already were wet, so this did made the course even more difficult. I did play from the yellow tees here.
I really would like to play this course again, but also here under better conditions.
The buggy did have some great feature. Showing a fly over when driving to the next tee, giving yardage to the greens and so on.

This was also, because of the length maybe the most difficult course I did play, but with some great holes!

Here is a picture of the last par 4 we did play, we did start on 10, so this is hole 9 from the tour course.

Although I did had a buggy I still walked 18005 steps and 11,3 km.
I did collect 25 stableford points!

Day 4: Golf de Pals

The oldest golf course in the Costa Brava! A real forest course with some holes where you have to use all imagination to avoid the trees. While we didn't had rain this day, the course was also very wet here!
On one hole half of the fairways was turned into a lake!

While it is a great course I didn't enjoy playing it. Nothing to do with the conditions but with my flight mates. One needed a least 1 minutes before he did hit the ball, the other well I better not say anything about him and the third one wasn't interested in playing due to a hang over. But what did annoyed me the most is that they didn't follow my ball. Lost 3 balls because nobody was looking, which is a gentlemen agreement.

So, I did loose interest in playing after 3 holes already. What a shame!

No buggy so I did reached 21878 steps and 12,9 km.
Worst score of the golf trip with only 21 points.

We did end back in the hotel at 00.45 am.

Day 5: Going home again!

Well I did miss my wife and kids. It was the first time that I did leave them for so long. So, I was very glad that we could go home again.
The golf trip was organized into perfection I just cannot complain about it. But they days were to busy with no private time, which I do need from time to time and which i do regret!

I do need to evaluate some things before I will have a verdict if I will join them again next year. Maybe 60 people on such trips is just too many. 4 people in a flight means that you do play more than 5 hours on a course. Which is a lot! The longest one was close to 6 hours of golf!

The contest

I did write out a contest about how many stableford points I would collect.

The correct answer was: 24 + 25 + 21 = 70!

This entry did came the closest:

@boatsports90 I will send you the SCR today!

Cheers,
Peter
