Well today I will be leaving on my first ever golf holiday. And it came as a surprise, until Sunday 2 weeks ago, nothing looked that this would be placed in my agenda!

The men's club within our local golf club arranges each year a 5 days golf holiday to Spain. There was a last minute cancellation which opened up a spot. My wife was with me at the golf club when I did hear the news and she encouraged my to fill in the spot. So I did.

This afternoon we will be flying towards Barcelona and then we do have a bus trip to the hotel in Girona. While I do look forward to it, I regret to leave my kids and wife and home. I will be missing lots of stuf, like 2 football games from the kids and watching part 3 of the hobbit on Saturday and of course being active on Scorum :(. I won't take a laptop with me because they will be not enough time to use it.

The courses

I will be playing the following courses! I will be playing all courses from the yellow tee!

On Thursday we will play on the Emporda links course in Girona.

It is a par 71. This is new for me. Only 3 par 5s!

On Friday we will the tour course of the PGA de Catalunya. This one is a par 72!

On Saturday we will be playing the course on Platja de Pals.

We are with a pretty big group. 60 men in total. Only men, no women, no kids. While it is a golf holiday, there will be lots of eating and drinking going on. At least that it what I did hear. We will how it goes.

The contest

I will be playing all 3 course in single stableford. Single stableford makes it possible that everybody can win against everybody.

Golf Handicap

First I do think that I need to explain that all amateur golfers do have a golf handicap. This handicap indicates how good you are. When you do start with golf you will be assigned handicap 36. Which actually means that you will get 2 extra strokes on each hole.

When you do play better than your handicap the handicap will decrease, when you play worse than your handicap, your handicap will increase.
Once you turn into a professional golfer, you wont have any handicap anymore. But there are amateurs with a negative handicap, meaning that a par 72 course could become a par 71 course.

Well my handicap is: 28

Stableford

It goes like this. Depending on your handicap and the difficulty the player get some extra strokes. Depending on the number of extra strokes you have, these will be added to the most difficult holes. With my handicap of 28, I will probably be getting between 30 to 32 extra strokes.

Let's take 30 extra strokes as example.
This means that I will get an extra strokes on all 18 holes and another extra stroke on the 12 most difficult holes of the golf course. So, if the most difficult hole is a par 4, it will become a par 6 for me.

If I do play this hole in 6 strokes, I will be getting 2 points. If I do play this hole in 5 I will be getting 3 points, in 6 will result in 1 point and 7 or higher in 0 points.
So, if you do play your handicap you will end up with 36 points. If you do have more than 36 points, than your handicap will decrease. If you do collect less then 32 points your handicap will increase again.
So you do play against your own handicap.

A better explanation of stableford can be found here.

The contest

The prize pool for this contest is: 50 SCR

Like told before my handicap is 28 and I will play on 3 courses I have never played on. It is even possible that play on Friday or Saturday could be done with a small hang over.
All courses will be played as single stableford.

To give some more detailed information, I never use a driver, it even isn't shipped to spain. All my tee shots (expect the par 3s) are done with a wood 5. I do hit with this wood on average 180 to 190 meters (195 to 205 yards). The distance for my iron 7 is between 125 and 135 meters (136 and 147 yards).

I do tend to have a slice, meaning the ball starts straight but suddenly turns sharp to the right. This is for sure nasty when playing a small hole with trees besides it.

So the question is, how many stableford points will I collect during these 3 rounds of golf?
When I would play my handicap, I would score 36 stableford points per round!

How many stableford points will I accumulated on all 3 courses?
Everybody who will guess correct will have a share of the 50 SCR prize pool. If nobody guesses it correct, it will go to the ones who are closest.

The content closes tomorrow around 16:00 P.M. CET. This because I will write daily reports on Steem. I am sorry that I can't do this on Scorum but I can't write or publish posts on Scorum with my Iphone or Ipad.

SBC

Well together with @stimp1024, @btb and @costanza I am co-founder of the SBC. Which started as Steem Betting Community has been evolved into Scorum/Steem/Sport Betting Community and we are now planning to come to Scorum with the SBC.

@stimp1024 wrote an excellent post about it, which shows how engaged we are with Scorum. You can read this here.

@btb will wrote to follow up, probably just after the weekend. So make sure to follow us, so that you don't miss the news about the SBC.

Also I do want to let you all know that both @stimp1024 and @btb are Scorum delegates, so if you have a delegate vote to spare, please consider them!

Cheers,
Peter
