For the past couple of weeks, I've been sharing my fantasy golf picks. For the second week in a row, I finished in the top 20% of all players in the PGA Yahoo! Cup. With Tommy Fleetwood, Zach Johnson, Rory McIlroy, and Justin Rose, I could have had a winning roster if not for the disaster at the bottom of my lineup with Charles Howell III and Anirban Lahiri.
After the Open Championship (British Open), it's now time for the Canadian Open, which should be a very interesting tournament with a mix of some of the top players in the game and several lesser-known players with a real chance at competing.
My Fantasy Lineup for the Canadian Open 7/26
I will once again be playing in the $1,000 PGA Yahoo! Cup Freeroll. The tournament offers $50,000 in prizes in total with $1,000 up for grabs each week. For this years Canadian Open, my fantasy team includes three of the frontrunners and three promising underdogs.
Brooks Koepka is the second choice (+1100) of oddsmakers to win the RBC Canadian Open. He has finished no worse than 39th in his past six tournaments and should be right in the mix to win it all on Sunday.
Tommy Fleetwood is the third choice (+1600) and is on fire. In his past five tournaments, Fleetwood has not finished worse than 17th. It's hard to bet against him performing well this week.
Matt Kuchar looks to be back in good form after finishing 9th in the British Open. What's even more tantalizing is the fact that Kuchar has finished in the top 10 in this tournament four of the past five years.
After choosing three frontrunners, I had to dig in the bottom of the barrel a little to find live longshots, and I believe I found exactly that with Ryder, Taylor, and Cejka. We'll start with Cejka, who was very hot before withdrawing due to an injury before the John Deere Classic, which is part of the reason he's so cheap. I'll take my chances with him. Ryder is coming off of two top-10 finishes and Taylor, who has been bad at this course, has shot 68 or under in 9 of his last 16 rounds of gold.
