Shohei Ohtani of Los Angeles Angels, who performed the best this year, was selected as the MVP nominee for the American League MVP, as everyone expected.
According to Baseball Writers Association of America (BBWAA) announced on the 9th,the nominees for the individual award players in each division for the 2021 season.
The American League MVP nominee for Ohtani was chosen as everyone expected.Ohtani, who played a great role in Tuta, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Marcus Semien (Toronto Blue Jays) were finalists.
Ohtani had his best year as a pitcher this year with a 9-2, 3.18 ERA, batting .57, 46 homers, 100 RBIs, 25 stolen bases and 103 runs as a batter.
Guerrero Jr. and Semien, who were nominated along with Ohtani, also performed tremendously. Guerrero Jr. had a batting average of 0.311,48 homers and 111 RBIs, while Simeon had a batting average of 0.265 and 45 homers and 102 RBIs.
Previously,Ohtani was selected as Player of the Year at the Players Choice Awards selected by players, and also received the MLB Commissioner's Special Award.
Meanwhile, the National League MVP finalists were Bryce Harper (Philadelphia), Juan Soto (Washington), and Fernando Tatis Jr. (San Diego).
