In a game that's usually forgettable, low-scoring, and anti-climatic, the 2018 MLB All-Star was none of these things. A total of 14 runs were scored in the American League's victory over the National League.

After what began as a traditional slow-paced contest with a total of just three runs going into the bottom of the seventh inning, a slugfest erupted with Colorado Rockies star Trevor Sty hitting a solo home run to tie the game 2-2. Story's home run was the fourth of the game, and certainly wouldn't be the last. With the game tied 5-5 going into the top of the 10th inning, Houston Astros teammates Alex Bregman and George Springer hit back-to-back home runs to give the AL a 7-5 lead. They would add another run to widen the lead to 8-5.

The action wasn't over yet as the NL's Joey Votto crushed a home run to right field, keeping their hopes alive. Unfortunately for the NL and the fans in Washington, which hosted this year's game, the AL would go on to win 9-5, marking the sixth consecutive win for the AL. With a total of 10 home runs, the 2018 MLB All-Star Game set a record for most home runs in the game, breaking the previous record of just 7. One of those home runs came from the game's MVP, Alex Bregman. Alex was given the choice of one of two vehicles for his prize as the game's MVP. He chose a Chevy Camaro, which after choosing he proudly stated, "I'm giving it to my mom."
