The Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners meet Friday in MLB action at Safeco Field.

The Toronto Blue Jays look for another victory after losing seven of their last 10 games. The Blue Jays have scored 12 runs in their last three games and five or more runs in five of their last eight games. The Toronto Blue Jays have won six of their last eight games when scoring more than three runs. Yangervis Solarte leads the Blue Jays with 98 hits and 55 RBI while Justin Smoak and Teoscar Hernandez have combined for 176 hits and 97 RBI. Ryan Borucki gets the ball, and he is 0-2 with a 2.83 ERA and 28 strikeouts this season. This will be Borucki’s first career game against the Mariners.

The Seattle Mariners need a win here after losing five of their last seven games. The Mariners have allowed 20 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in seven of their last nine games. The Seattle Mariners have lost seven of their last eight games when allowing more than two runs. Offensively, Jean Segura leads the Mariners with 130 hits and 51 RBI while Dee Gordon and Mitch Haniger have combined for 219 hits and 91 RBI. Marco Gonzales gets the ball, and he is 12-5 with a 3.37 ERA and 111 strikeouts this season. This will be Gonzales’s first career game against the Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays are 5-0 in their last 5 Friday games, 2-6 in their last 8 during game 2 of a series and 8-20 in their last 28 road games. The Mariners are 1-4 in their last 5 during game 2 of a series, 6-0 in Gonzales' last 6 home starts and 5-0 in Gonzales' last 5 starts. The Blue Jays are 10-4 in the last 14 meetings and the under is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings.

Laying these prices with the Seattle Mariners who are slumping and now find themselves on the outside looking in on the wild card race doesn't make much sense. However, I'm not sure I trust the Toronto Blue Jays to put together any type of winning streak. Gonzales has been one of the better pitchers for the Mariners this season, and he's allowed a combined four runs in his last 19.1 innings. At home this season, Gonzales has a 2.88 ERA and has produced six straight victories. This is a game the Mariners should win, but I'm not sure that matters much given their current form
