The Red Sox validated there season last night in great fashion. They beat the Yankees 3-1 in the best of five series. After getting eliminated in the first round these past two postseasons this division win means a lot more. With them getting out of the ALDS the Sox have proved they are the best team in the American League East. Proving in my opinion they are AL East Champs. There is no better way than beating New York in the playoffs on their field.

From the beginning of the season to now this team has been something special. Beginning with Alex Cora who really put that young vibe in the locker room. Also with getting the power hitter, they needed in J.D. Martinez who really was a difference maker in game one of the ALDS. The Sox were missing Ortiz those previous two postseasons so having Martinez in the lineup is huge. Cora's managing style has been great. The substitutions he made this series seemed to always work out. Between putting Brock Holt in the lineup in game three, who hit for the cycle. Then in game four, he put Ian Kinsler in the lineup instead of Holt and he got an RBI.

Also the Way Cora uses his bullpen by putting Rick Porcello in the eighth inning in game one. Then ace Chris Sale in the eighth inning in game four with a 4-1 lead. Both decisions on Cora's part really worked into his favor. Now they face Cora's old team and the defending World Champion Houston Astros. Cora knows that Astro team inside and out which works in the Red Sox favor. Sale is pitching game one while David Price will pitch game two.

Regardless what happens in the ALCS The Red Sox have had a successful season. The Astros are a tough team and are coming off a championship so they'll be ready to go. The Red Sox validated there 108 wins by getting out of the first round this season. Which makes this team more successful than the previous two seasons.
