Jeffrey Herlings races like a whirlwind through the World Championship motocross. On Sunday he can become worldchampion in his own country. The Netherlands are becoming crazy because Herlings transcends the motor sport.

Before the season, everyone expected a battle between Herlings and his teammate and worldchampion Antonio Cairoli. In the beginning the level was equal and there were great matches ( but Jeffrey won so much confidence out of his victories that he has raised his level.

6 points Jeffrey Herlings still needs to become the first Dutchman world champion in the royal class of the motocross. Doing this in his own country must be a wonderful feeling. In stead of sharing your luck with 50 -100 countrymen, he will be able to celebrate it with a few thousand.

The Netherlands will be one big orange color if he catches those 6 points.

Jeffrey is a rider that transcends the sport, he has his heart on the tongue and that appeals to the people. At the age of 33 Cairolli probably reaches his best level ever, compared to numbers 3 and 4. But I can imagine that Cairoli might be a bit less driven with his 9 world titles. Both are superpowers, but conditionally Jeffrey is a bit better, perhaps because he can do more training work.

Jeffrey's training job is phenomenal, after a hard day of training hos coach thinks he'll be stiff tomorrow, but the day after he wakes up and is 100% recuperated.

Herlings won the past 13 races, a record. He also won 15 of the 18 GPs . He missed one of them by a collarbone fracture. In the other 2 GPs he became 2nd.

You could also say that it is boring. That's right, personally I'm a not a BIG GP sports enthusiast in heart and soul and also enjoy more cycling or soccer but I love the story of the Dutchman so I wrote about it.

The expectation is that Herlings, like Cairoli and Everts, will dominate the MXGP for a long period of time.

Jeffrey is already at the top since he was 17. He became world champion in the MX2.

Will he be able to hold on to that or is he already burnt out after 3 years ? Time will tell.
