Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso said he chose to ignore Marc Marquez in the 2018 MotoGP standings and focus on pursuing Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi.

Dovizioso, who became one of the champions' favorites at the start of the 2018 MotoGP season, appeared less slick as the season progressed. Although often appear competitive, but Dovizioso was overwritten several times so he failed to finish in several series.

These conditions make Dovizioso currently in fourth position with a collection of 129 points, behind 72 points from Marquez at the top of the standings.

"The next race is Silverstone, where I won last year even though it wasn't the fastest rider because Marquez suffered engine damage. We seem to be back competitive there," said Dovizioso as quoted by GPOne.

Dovizioso himself claimed to be disappointed with the results of the third place finish he got at the Austrian MotoGP.

"I was worried about Marquez before finally realizing that Marquez's speed was not as good as we were. I was behind Lorenzo and tried to catch up with him but couldn't do it."

"Jorge was braking hard and slow enough around the corner. In an effort to catch up with Lorenzo, I put too much pressure on the rear tire. I had to pay for that," said Dovizioso.
