After winning his 8th race of the season I saw a side of Kevin Harvick that I have never seen before, and quite honestly I got emotional watching it.

So what happened? Kevin Harvick won his 8th race of the season at Texas Motor Speedway. After winning Kevin did what any other driver would do. He went to the grandstands to collect his checkered flag and do a burnout. This is where it takes a twist...

Most drivers would take the flag, wave it around, scream a few times and then go do a burnout or make a victory lap around the track. But not Kevin. He went to get the checkered flag and saw a fan in the stands. It was young Joel Cram III. Kevin pulled him out of the grandstands and took a selfie with him right in front of his race car. Not only did he take a selfie with him, but he also gave Joel the checkered flag. Here's a video of what happened...

This is something that I wouldn't expect from any driver, especially not Kevin Harvick. Back in his early racing days Kevin was a jerk and he'll admit it. Taking time for young fans wasn't big on his To-Do list. Now that he is married and has two children he has become a very nice guy who has my utmost respect. Seeing him do this took me from being a mediocre Kevin Harvick fan to wanting to buy a t-shirt and pull for him in every race. Good job Kevin, you made me proud.

I did some stalking on Twitter and I found out that this kid has been all over the place this past weekend. He was at Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s book signing and took pictures with Carl Edwards, Mike Helton, Rodney Childers and Steve O' Donnell. All important people in the NASCAR world. This kid just had possibly the best weekend of his entire life all because these guys took a little bit of time out of their day to make his even better. Seeing things like this makes me proud to be a NASCAR fan.
