Now that sports is returning one event at a time, people are brewing excitement to finally see the athletic world ablaze again. Racing fans represent the best of them, as one of the events coming out of the lockdown slump is the NASCAR Cup Series. On May 17, the NASCAR Cup Series Race at Darlington Raceway will be kicking off, and it’ll surely bring back the lost action we’ve been missing. And so to spark the waiting game, let’s have a look at five of the best NASCAR teams to have raced on the tracks since the game’s inception.

Joe Gibbs Racing

With three NASCAR championships, two Pontiac Grand Prix and a Chevrolet Monte Carlo up their sleeve, Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) is one of the most accomplished teams in the game. Led by former Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs along with his son J. D. Gibbs, JGR was able to rack up 176 cup wins and 165 NXS wins in their record.

Roush Fenway Racing

Popularly known as the team that only races in Ford, Roush Fenway Racing has been one of the best NASCAR teams since it first started racing in 1988. Its success in the tracks can be attributed to its notable members, including Carl Edwards, Jeff Burton, David Ragan and a few others. The team has eight driver's championships and 324 wins in total.

Hendrick Motorsports

Hendrick Motorsports is among the most successful teams NASCAR has seen. Formerly known as All-Star Racing, HMS entered - and changed - the game back in 1984, thanks to its founder Rick Hendrick. The team sure lived up to that all-star status, with the pack joined by notable racers like Ricky Rudd, Terry Labonte, and Kyle Busch. HMS has 256 cup wins, 26 NXS wins, and 26 truck wins.

Richard Childress Racing

The North Carolina-based troupe of power racers, Richard Childress Racing, is also among the best NASCAR teams of all time, owing to former racer Richard Childress’s dedication to the sport. Valued at $128 million and earned a revenue totaling $101 million, the team pulls up to the NASCAR Cup Series as one of the most competitive bunch.

Stewart-Haas Racing

Stewart-Haas Racing is one of the few top teams that came late in the game. Even in the row of established racing legends, SHR managed to clinch the top spot thanks to the team’s co-owners, Haas Automation founder Gene Haas and three-time Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart.
