What's up basketball fans! I am here again @dwin0603 to give you another exciting basketball discussion for another episode of NBA Talk, and today we will talk about Pau Gasol's best destinations if the San Antonio Spurs buy him out. Let's start!
Looks like Pau Gasol's time in San Antonio is over as the Spaniard big man and the Spurs reportedly wanted to part ways after Gasol expressed his desire to be traded away. But after the trade deadline pass through, the Spurs failed to find him a new home and that might force the Spurs to just buy him out.
Before his contract becomes guaranteed in July, San Antonio should just waived him in the off-season. But Gasol wanted to help other contending teams for the remainder of the season so the Spurs might likely buy him out early. Gasol still is an efficient center who's better than other young centers out there. He is an NBA Champ and he can be a leader because of his championship experience and his long stay in the league. He still has a lot left in the tank and can still be a perfect center off the bench. Now, let's break down the teams that I think will be best fitted for him.
Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets is one of the top contenders in the Western Conference which has a better position than the Spurs. Pau Gasol would be glad to help Harden and the Rockets especially now that they needed some height in their roster. Houston is currently comfortable to play small ball playing PJ Tucker in the 4 position but when the opponent goes big, the Rockets struggles inside the paint on both ends of the floor especially when Capela is not on the court. Gasol's height and individual talent might be a great help for Houston and Coach Mike D'Antoni surely will be glad to have Gasol's services and help them load for for the upcoming battles in the playoffs.
Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks are the top seed in the Eastern Conference and they are locked and loaded for a deep playoff run this season. They showed the whole league how tough they are with the running for MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo leading them with no slowing down. Another reason for their success today is their center Brook Lopez. We can compare Gasol to Lopez and I may say that they have a similar type of game. Gasol can also be a reliable mid-range shooter who can also post up. He's also a better rebounder than Lopez. The Bucks recently got rid of Thon Maker and that punches a whole in their roster. They are now lacking depth at their front court which Gasol could fill up.
Toronto Raptors
The Toronto Raptors. I know most of you will agree with me and thinks the same way about the opportunity of the Gasol brothers to play together in one team. Pau's brother, Marc Gasol was recently traded to the Toronto Raptors before the trade deadline and it will be exciting to see them together playing for the same team. The Gasol Brothers played a lot of basketball together in Spain playing for their national team. They can make each other better and that would definitely be a great help for the Toronto Raptors. We know that the Raptors always came up short in the playoffs because of the lack of experience and leadership around them, so having an NBA champ with them could likely made their chance of success higher when playing in the playoffs. Acquiring Gasol would give them a lot of benefit and will surely help them for their championship dreams.
