Happy New Year basketball fans! What a great night to write an article because it's the first day of the year 2019. I am here again @dwin0603 to give you another episode of NBA Talk and today I will feature one of the hottest young stars Ben Simmons. Let's get started!

The game that is being played today is different from the past decades. In the NBA today, as I always said in my previous blogs, three-point shooter is the main weapon every team should develop. A team who doesn’t have enough shooters in their roster always have a disadvantage. This trend starts because of Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. I believe Curry changed the game and he made the mark of three-pointer trend. Every kids today wants to be Steph. They always wanted to shoot the three even though it is not a high percentage shot.

But despite all of that, the 1st overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft Ben Simmons did not follow the trend and wasn’t able to develop his three-point shot in his high school days and even in college. But still, Ben is a hell of a talent. He is smart. He’s like LeBron James who has a vision of a point guard and can play that position even with a height of 6-foot-10. Ben is a triple-double machine and can be a problem for opponents every single night. But with all of that talent he has, there is one huge flaw in his game. Ben cannot shoot the ball from the three-point area. His shooting stroke looks bad. He cannot shoot mid-range shots or even free-throw shots consistently. That is a huge problem to deal with in today’s NBA. Even though Simmons can score, defend, rebound and pass, he should still develop his three-point shot to be a more dominant and complete player.

When asked in a post-game interview, Simmons gave his thoughts on his poor shooting. Ben stated that he is not content with his game as of now. He wants to develop his shooting and he is working every day. He said that it’s a day by day process and just getting comfortable with his game and evolving. He also said that it’s not something he’s going to jump into and start doing easily and in time, he’s going to get there.

Simmons is only 22 years old and it’s not too late for him. However, I was bothered not seeing any development and improvement in his shooting considering he worked out all summer. He hasn’t been able to make a three in his whole career and the fact that he isn’t even trying is not so good. If Simmons don’t develop his shooting, it may be hard for him to be a true star in the future.

That is all for today folks! Drop your comments now and let me hear your opinions. Have a Happy New Year guys and let's have some basketball talk! :)
