During the off-season, all-star forward Kevin Love signed a massive $120 million contract extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Everybody was shocked because they thought that Love would be leaving after his contract expires. After LeBron left Cleveland again to join the Los Angeles Lakers, the Cavs seemed to be a non-relevance team again who will not make the playoffs without the best player in the world playing for them.

The reason behind Love’s decision to stay in Cleveland is because he don’t want to be in a situation where he will be the Kevin love in Minnesota who is the only player that is trying to compete. In an interview with Cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor, Love said that he don’t want to be in a team that was going to tank or have less competitiveness. He said that he was part of a team like that in past and he don’t want that to happen again.

Love wants this year to be a building stage for the Cavs. He wants to build chemistry with the guys and he wants the young guys to develop their game by gaining experience and competing at the same time this season. The Cavs association told Love that losing LeBron could cause a major fall down for the team but they do not want to take a huge step back. That’s what made love the decision to stay with the team.

Love wants the Cavs to still be in relevance despite losing LeBron again. Back in 2010, the Cavs struggled to win without Bron and they only managed to win 19 games coming from a 61 win season before LeBron wins. Since LeBron left, the Cavs weren’t able to make it to the playoffs. Even landing three first overall draft picks from the draft, the Cavs still failed to be successful. And when LeBron came back in 2014 the Cavs again consistently make it to the finals for consecutive years.

Let's see how good the Cav's can be with Kevin Love leading the team.
