Vince Carter who played for Sacramento Kings last season, has settled with the Atlanta Hawks.
Carter signed a one-year 2.4 million dollar contract with Atlanta on April 26. Veteran Carter, who came from overall fifth place in the 1998 rookie draft, is preparing for his 21st season.
Carter has never won an NBA championship since his debut. In his final years, he can transfer to the championship team and play in the upcoming games. But Carter doesn't want to.
" I want more time to play than to be a mentor at the championship team, " Carter told ESPN on Thursday. I don't mind giving it a few minutes.
" If he feels he can't do much on the court, he may move to the winning team. But I think I will retire then. That mind is still embedded in me. So winning is not my first priority. But I have no complaints.
Carter is the oldest player in the league. He was born on January 26, 1977. It was drafted in 1998. Carter was already working on the NBA court this year when Atlanta rookie Tray-Young (Sept. 19, 1998) was born. It is no wonder when you retire.
When will he retire? " There is a 90 percent chance of retiring after the 2018-19 season, " Carter said.
Finally, he said, " I want to be a broadcasting day after I retire. " Carter used to be a broadcasting commentator several times during the offseason. He will also take the microphone as a commentator at the Junior NBA World Championship next week.
