Good day fellow sports lovers across the globe. I’m here with another fascinating NBA update. A new record, a new achievement and a new history has been set in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) by an American Professional Basketball Player named Brittney Griner.
Brittney Yevette Griner who currently plays for the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA as their Center and also in Russia for the UMMC Ekaterinburg was born in Houston, Texas on October 18, 1990 has recently set a new history on Saturday afternoon as she becomes the first play in WNBA history to have multiple Dunks.
She did not only set a new record but also won people’s heart in the process as she did what has never been done in the history of WNBA. She put on quite a show with a very impressive performance for her team during the WNBA All-Star game at Mandalay Bay Events Center on Saturday.
The Mercury’s Center made 16pts and 9rebounds to bridge the gap of loss for her team (Team Delle Donne) to Team Wilson on Saturday, adding to the 22pts made by Nneka Ogumike and other basketball from the team.
Brittney who is always time conscious whenever she’s playing showed an amazing performance as she led her team with multiple unique dunks.
She made her first dunk when it was 5mins; 21secs left in the first quarter and landed another one against Team Wilson when the first quarter was coming to an end in a minute.
Towards the end of the second quarter, she made another dunk with 6mins, 10secs left to the end of that quarter but it was with her two hands this time around and the whole crowd was awed as she put up such amazing performance.
In spite of Brittney and Nneka Ogumike’s effort, together with the efforts of other players of the Team Delle Donnie, they eventually loss to Team Wilson at the end of the WNBA All-Star Game with 126-129pts respectively.
However, this is not the first achievement of Brittney Yevette Griner in the Women National Basketball Association (WNBA). She has made other notable acheievments and they are as follows; 2014 WNBA Champion, 6times WNBA All-Star, 2017 WNBA Scoring Champion , 2times Defensive player of the year, 3times Russian National League, 2times EuroLeague Champion and many more.
Brittney Griner has carved her name in the WNBA history and has therefore paved way for the coming players in the WNBA who is looking up to her as their model and has also proven to the public that the NBA doesn’t belong to only the men but women as well.
