I am so sorry about missing last week's winners and losers. Pete and I were out of town. When we got back home I didn’t feel like doing anything, so I didn’t. I hope you enjoy week seven!

#1.

Alabama 47 – Texas A&M 28. The 16.5 spread was covered.

The Crimson Tide traveled to College Station to take on the Aggies of TAMU. Tagovailoa threw his first interception of the year, the Tide was penalized 91 yards in 11 penalties. The punter, Hunter DeLong punted twice with the longest punt being 36 yards. Even with all these self-inflicted wounds found a was to win by 19 points.

Alabama’s very young defense did appear to have grown up a bit for this game. The defense had 5 sacks but still allowed TAMU to gain 389 yards against them. They are getting better with each game and maturing.

Jalen Waddle was the shining star on punt returns gaining a total of 128 yards on 4 returns. Special teams made a big play in the fourth quarter by blocking an Aggie punt and running it in for the touchdown.

Alabama remains at #1 in this week's AP Poll

Alabama will host Tennessee on October 19th. The spread is “off” for this game.

#2.

Clemson 45 – Florida State 14. The 27 point spread was covered.

The Clemson Tigers recovered after spending a bye week working on fixing mistakes that were made against North Carolina in a struggle win.

The Tigers dominated the Florida State Seminoles and moved the ball at will. It was apparent Dabo Swinny was tired of trying to answer the questions of what was wrong with his team. He did everything he could to make this game a statement win after dropping in the polls following the struggle win and bye week.

The Seminoles turned the ball over 4 times and allowed the Tigers to gain 552 yards on offense. Florida State was able to hold the ball on offense for only 20 of the 60-minute game.

Clemson dropped in the AP poll to the #3 position.

Clemson will travel to Louisville on October 19th as a 23 point favorite.

#3. Tie with Ohio State

Georgia 17 – South Carolina 20 (2OT) The 24.5 spread was not covered.

Shocking! Not at all the game I expected! South Carolina has struggled all season but came out and took it to the mighty Bulldogs of Georgia!

This was a game where Georgia can say they gave this game to the Gamecocks. Four turnovers including three interceptions and one fumble is so very unusual for the Bulldog team and especially with quarterback Jake Fromm, but it was Fromm who lost the ball in every turnover.

It took South Carolina two overtimes to beat the Bulldogs even with them trying to beat themselves. The Dogs were able to move the ball a total of 468 yards. The end came when the Bulldogs kicker missed a 42-yard field-goal attempt in the second overtime.

The Bulldogs dropped in the AP Poll to #10.

Georgia will host Kentucky as a 23 point favorite on October 19th.

#3. Tie with Georgia

Ohio State enjoyed a bye week.

Ohio State dropped to # 4 in the AP poll.

Ohio State will travel to Northwestern as a 27.5 favorite on October 19th.

#5.

LSU 42 – Florida 28. The 13 point spread was covered.

The first half of this game ended 21-21. What a game what a mighty big game between #5 and #7. Both teams gave it all they had and left it all on the field. This game was a lot of fun to watch just as a casual observer and not really a fan of either.

Both teams were able to sustain drives and score during the first half. You all know how much I love Tiger quarterback Joe Burrow for his passing arm, but it was the run game that broke it open for the Tigers offense, rushing the ball 218 yards.

LSU was able to score hot and fast when they had the ball while the Gators moved the ball methodically down the field eating up over 38 minutes of the clock. There is no doubt this was a game of two elite football teams.

LSU moved up to the #2 spot in this week's AP Poll.

LSU will travel to Mississippi State on October 19th as a 19 point favorite.

#6.

Oklahoma 34 – Texas 27. The 10.5 spread was not covered.

The Red River Classic played in Dallas, Texas is a very game between these Big 12 rivals!

Some of you may recall that Texas was in my projection for this year's playoffs. So, it appears that my prediction was misplaced for Texas this season. It is just hard for anyone to beat Jalen Hurts' ability to pass and run. He is an amazing athlete and very hard to contain. Hurts threw one interception but made up for it by rushing for 131 yards and one touchdown. He also passed for 235 yards and 3 touchdowns.

The Sooners have developed a defense! They were able to sack Longhorn quarterback Sam Ehlinger 9 times in this game.

Oklahoma moved up to the #5 position in this week's AP Poll.

Oklahoma will host West Virginia on October 19th as a 33.5 favorite.

#7.

Florida 28 – LSU 42

This game is discussed above. Here are the Stats for the game.

Florida dropped in this week's AP Poll to #9.

Florida is traveling to South Carolina on October 19th as the underdog!

#8.

Wisconsin 38 – Michigan St. 0. The 10.5 spread was covered.

The Spartans were outgunned in this showdown. They didn’t have any answers for the Wisconsin offense.

The Badgers held the Spartans to only 149 total offensive yards while gaining 188 yards passing and 222 on the ground. The Spartans were only able to manage 30 yards rushing against the very stingy Badger defense.

Wisconsin made a pick-six off the Spartans in the fourth quarter. The Badgers have allowed only 4 touchdowns by their opponents so far this season. Very tough defense. In the first half of this game, the Badgers had the ball for less than 7 minutes. That’s domination.

Wisconsin moved up to the #6 position in this week's AP Poll.

Wisconsin will travel to Illinois on October 19th as a 29 point favorite.

#9.

Notre Dame 30 – USC 27. The 11.0 spread was not covered.

The Trojans from USC traveled to South Bend to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a classic rivalry game. This was a very exciting game as both teams showed their prowess.

The Trojans had come within three in the waning seconds of the game. The Irish were able to recover the onside kick and run the clock out to end the hard-fought game.

Statistically, this game was as close as the final score. Both teams enjoyed over 400 yards on offense, each had 25 first downs and they almost split the time on the game clock. USC came into this game with the thought of upsetting the Irish. It almost worked, but not quite.

Notre Dame moved up to the #8 position in this week's AP Poll.

Notre Dame will have a bye week on Saturday. They will play Michigan on October 26th.

#10.

Penn State 17 – Iowa 12. The 3.5 spread was covered.

The Nittany Lions of Penn State traveled to Iowa City to take on the #17 Iowa Hawkeyes. This was another very good and very close matchup.

These two teams sport two of the College Football’s best defenses. The biggest difference in this game was two Iowa turnovers. One pass interception and one fumble resulted in Penn St. points.

The Nittany Lions were able to survive in an electric atmosphere in Iowa City with the crowd rocking. Even though the Hawkeyes lost the turnover battle they won the penalty numbers. The Nittany Lions cost themselves 80 yards on 8 penalties while the Hawkeyes played a very clean game with only one penalty for 5 yards.

Penn State moved up to the #7 position in this week's AP Poll.

Penn State will host Michigan on October 19th as a 7.5 point favorite.

That’s it for this past Saturday's Top Ten! I will see you again next week. Until then,

Mama
