Multiple Bye weeks and two teams playing each other made for a short Top Ten write-up. Everyone, please remember this synopsis is my opinion and I am a fan, not a professional.

Beginning next week we will be going by the Playoff Poll and not the AP.

#1.

LSU enjoyed a Bye week

LSU remained #1 in this week’s AP Poll

LSU will travel to Alabama on Nov. 9th as a 6 point underdog.

#2.

Alabama enjoyed a Bye week.

Alabama remained #2 in this week’s AP Poll.

Alabama will host LSU on Nov. 9th as a 6 point favorite.

#3.

Ohio State a Bye week

Ohio State remained at #3 in this week’s AP Poll

Ohio State will host Maryland on Nov. 9th as a 42 point favorite.

#4.

Clemson 59 – Wofford 14. The spread was off for this game.

Clemson’s offense exploded for over 700 yards of total offense against FCS Wofford while enjoying their 24th consecutive victory.

There really isn’t much to discuss about this game. Clemson destroyed this Wofford team. I hope the $360,000 they received for this beating was worth it to the Terriers.

Running back Travis Etienne rushed for greater than 200 yards before half-time and that broke school records.

Coach Dabo Swinney has built a dynasty at Clemson as evidenced by this being the 4th of 5 seasons to win the first 9 games of the season.

Clemson’s defense got in on the action by holding Wofford to only 75 yards of offense in the first half.

Clemson remained at #4 in this week’s AP Poll

Clemson will travel to North Carolina State on Nov. 9th as a 32 point favorite.

#5.

Penn State enjoyed a Bye week.

Penn State remained #5 in this week’s AP Poll

Pen State will travel to Minnesota as a 6 point favorite.

#6.

Florida 17 – Georgia 24. The 6.5 spread was covered by Georgia.

The “World’s Largest Cocktail Party” did not disappoint... unless you were a Gator fan. This was by far the best game played this past weekend.

The Gator offense didn’t seem to be able to move the ball at all on the ground. The had only 21 yards rushing. Florida scored the least amount of points they had scored all season. Let me ask Florida fans, when will Dan Mullen learn to control or at least look at the clock?

The Bulldogs were able to have a more balanced attack with Andre Swift eating up 86 yards on the ground. Both teams enjoyed nice passing games.

I’m going to go here….

Officiating. The SEC officials have taken quite a bit of heat this season for making bad calls or none calls. This game was no different. The Dawgs were able to sustain a drive on 3rd down by what the officials called a pass completion that actually hit the ground. Georgia scored a TD on the very next play. I can certainly understand Gator fans being very upset. This was just one call, there were many penalties that either should have been called and weren’t or were called and it wasn’t a penalty. Most of these calls are on Defensive Backs/Receivers. Everyone who watches football knows that there is always bumping, pulling, tugging between these two position players. It is up to the official to make this call and they can be controversial every time. I don’t care when an official calls “interference” as long as he calls it equally for both teams.

Florida dropped to #10 in this week’s AP Poll

Florida will host Vanderbilt on Nov. 9th as a 25 point favorite.

#7.

Oregon 56 – USC 24. The 4.5 spread was covered.

Sloppy, sloppy game for both teams. Goodness games like this get on my last nerve.

Oregon had 157 yards in penalties and one turnover! USC had 4 turnovers and 92 yards of penalties. That’s a sloppy game to say the very least.

This could have been the nail in the coffin for USC’s coach Clay Helton. With losses to BYU, Washington, Notre Dame and now Oregon the Southern California fans are very upset and ready for a change. I usually think 5 seasons is what it takes for a good coach to get his team in place and believing in his philosophy. This is Helton’s 5th season, so he is probably gone. What remains to be seen is if they will allow him to finish the season or not.

Oregon has got to clean up the mistakes if they have any hopes of getting into the CFP. I don’t see it happening but in the Pac-12 anything is possible.

Oregon remained at #7 in this week’s AP Poll.

Oregon will enjoy a bye week on Nov. 9th and will host Arizona on Nov. 16th.

#8.

Georgia 24 – Florida 17. The 6.5 spread was covered.

Stats for this game as it was discussed above.

Stats for Florida/Georgia Game]

Georgia moved up to #6 in this week’s AP Poll

Georgia will host Missouri on Nov. 9th the spread is currently off for this game.

#9.

Utah 33 – Washington 28. The 3.5 spread was covered.

The Utes came into this game with the number one rushing defense in CFB. They proved it by holding the Huskies to only 53 yards on the ground.

I learned back in 2009 to never doubt the Utah Utes. Back then they were still in the Mountain West Conference. Utah and Alabama met in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl that year. Most Bama fans were cocky and thought the Utes were a fluke. They beat the Tide 31-17 and left some of the Bama faithful in tears and shock!

Back to this game. Washington kept this game close with their aerial attack. They were able to rack up over 300 yards passing. For the Huskies, it was two inceptions and a fumble that cost them at key times in the game. Turnovers killed the Huskies.

Utah moved up to #8 in this week’s AP Poll.

Utah has a bye week for Nov. 9th and will host UCLA on Nov. 16th.

#10.

Oklahoma enjoyed a bye week

Oklahoma moved to #9 in this week’s AP Poll.

Oklahoma will host Iowa State on Nov. 9th as a 13 point favorite.

Thanks for stopping by!

Until next week,

Mama
