I hate the Alabama Crimson Tide football program.
Hate might be too strong of a word. How about despise? Not much better I suppose. Also not true. In fact, envy might be the word I should use, if I am being truthful. After all, they are the best college football program. They have the best coach also, no doubt.
I happen to like a different football team. One that is transitioning. In other words, they sucked last year.....and the year before...et cetera, et cetera.
They also happen to be in the same division, which is almost a guaranteed loss every year. Since I live in this state of the team I support, and have for the last 25 years, I have watched them continually. Some years were ok, most were mediocre. The best two years in recent memory were in back to back years in 2010 and 2011. The glory years. Two. Unless you go back to the late 80's and earlier.
Give up? Ok, I will give you a hint.

I came to Arkansas at the end of my military days and never left. That was 25 years ago. I do look forward every year to watching the razorbacks play, rooting (get it?) for them and hoping for a winning season. More often than not, lately, that hasn't happened. But every year the fans are hopeful that this year will be different.
This year, they have a new head coach. Chad Morris. Coach Morris was head coach at SMU from 2015-17 after a four year stint as the offensive coordinator at Clemson. He brings an impressive resume to the University of Arkansas.
Gone is the pro-style slow down system that Bret Bielema ran. Instead, it is the up-tempo fill up the scoreboard type offense that Coach Morris employed at SMU and previously at Clemson. The future is bright, as they always say when they hire a new coach. The latest and greatest. However, this might finally be true. Coach Morris is the real deal. I look forward to a long stint at the University of Arkansas, with many successful seasons.
There is just one scenario that keeps popping up in my head though. I foresee the razorbacks finally getting back to back 10 win seasons in the next few years.
Then Coach Saban at the University of Alabama retires.
Then they hire Coach Morris away from Arkansas.
Then I could finally, truthfully, say:
