Source: aseaofblue.com / The Top 25 stayed pretty much in-tact from a week ago. The biggest shocker was Oregon's stumble at Arizona State, and the highlight of the weekend was Ohio State's 28-17 victory over Penn State.

Welcome back all! Hope everyone had an awesome Turkey Day! Even though another Thanksgiving is in the books, we've got a full-plate of games ahead of us today with another helping of tasty seconds for tomorrow. It's rivalry weekend, and Mississippi State & Ole Miss got us started last night in the Egg Bowl, where MSU edged their rivals 21-20 to become bowl eligible at 6-6. There is plenty to cover from last week, so let's jump right into it.

-

Starting at the top, LSU destroyed Arkansas 56-20, to remain at #1. I don't mind the committee flipping LSU & Ohio State, but I see the difference between these two as razor thin. The Tigers still have the more difficult overall schedule, but OSU closes with a highly-ranked Michigan squad, so that will change that narrative a bit. The Buckeyes got past a very good Penn State team 28-17, in a game in which OSU had in control, but kept the Nittany Lions in it due to self-inflicted wounds. That being said, it was an 11-point win and keeps the Buckeyes firmly entrenched at #2 ahead of tomorrow's showdown with the Wolverines.

Source: cbssports.com / Ohio State snuck past Penn State, 28-17, despite some costly self-inflicted mistakes. It was enough to move them up, however, to #1 in the latest CFP rankings.

Clemson was off and remains at #3, and Georgia once again relied on their elite defense in a 19-13 slugfest against Texas A&M. The Bulldogs remain at 4, and shouldn't get much of a test from a flat out bad Georgia Tech squad tomorrow, so the real question is, will the Bulldogs be able to take down LSU in the SEC title game? Alabama remains at 5 after demolishing FCS 3-win squad Western Carolina, and of course, the Tide need a big win over Auburn tomorrow in the Iron Bowl to keep their fledgling CFP hopes alive.

-

Utah moved up a spot to #6, taking advantage of a major stumble by fellow Pac-12 foe Oregon. The previously #5 Ducks went to Arizona State and were thoroughly outplayed before rallying late only to come up short in a shocking 31-28 defeat. The loss to a previously 5-5 Sun Devils squad dropped the Ducks 10 spots to 15 this week. The Utes are looking better and better at this point for a possible CFP birth.

-

Source: dallasnews.com / Oklahoma got past TCU in Norman, 28-24, but it wasn't easy. Jalen Hurts was once-again impressive with his legs, but struggled throwing the ball, completing just 11-21 in the game.

Oklahoma and Minnesota each moved up two spots to #7 & #8, respectively. The Sooners survived a poor passing outing from Jalen Hurts in a 28-24 victory over 5-6 TCU and the Gophers dispatched Northwestern 38-22. Penn State dropped two spots after the loss to OSU, and lands at #9, and the Florida Gators round out the top 10 - up a spot to #10.

-

Baylor rose 4 spots to #11 following their bounce-back victory over Texas, 24-10. The Bears are getting a boost to their resume thanks to the improved play of late from Oklahoma State & Iowa State. The Bears are knocking on the door of the top 10 & possibly the CFP. Directly behind them at #12 are the Wisconsin Badgers, who overcame a slow start against Purdue, before cruising to a 45-24 victory. In fact the middle portion of the top 25 was status quo this week for really the first time all year long as Michigan & Notre Dame remain locked into #13 & #14, while Boise State, Cincinnati, Memphis, Iowa, and Auburn all remained at #s 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20, respectively. The most noteworthy result from that group was Iowa's 19-10 victory over previously 6-4 Illinois.

Source: FBSchedules.com / Oklahoma State is suddenly 8-3 and trending in the right direction ahead of tomorrow night's Bedlam showdown against #7 Oklahoma.

-

There was plenty of movement & a few changes at the back end of the rankings however. Oklahoma State got past West Virginia, 20-13, to improve to 8-3 and moved up a spot to #21 ahead of tomorrow night's Bedlam showdown with Oklahoma. Appalachian State took care of Texas State, 35-13, to improve to 10-1 and move up a spot as well, to #22. Virginia Tech got their most-impressive win of the season - a 28-0 shutout over Pitt to improve to 8-3 and jump into the top 25 for the first time since very early in the season. The Hokies are followed by Air Force. The Falcons got a 44-22 victory at New Mexico to improve to 9-2 and moved up a spot to 24. Rounding out the top 25 are the USC Trojans, who crushed rival UCLA 52-35, to finish up their regular season at 8-4. If Utah is somehow upset by Colorado on Saturday, that would actually send the Trojans to the Pac 12 Title Game.

The list of "next" group of teams just outside of the top 25 has been dwindled down, and now just consists of Iowa State, Navy, Virginia, and SMU. The Cyclones have been steadily improving during the second half of the season and could find their way back into the top 25 sooner rather than later. That wraps up the Top 25 for week 14, without further ado, this week's updated College Football Ultimate Top 25:

We have arrived at rivalry weekend! And boy oh boy do we have a slate of mouth-watering games on the docket for tomorrow. In fact, it actually gets going today with Iowa visiting Nebraska, and #17 Cincinnati & #18 Memphis in a huge showdown in the American Athletic with major implications on who will be the "group of 5" representative in a New Year's Six Bowl.

-

Source: buckys5thquarter.com / Wisconsin will attempt to regain control of Paul Bunyan's Ax from the Minnesota Golden Gophers when the two rivals do battle from the Twin Cities tomorrow. The forecast? Appropriately, the weather is calling for snow...

Tomorrow's action features #13 Michigan hosting #2 Ohio State - can the Wolverines finally end their run of futility against the Buckeyes? #5 Alabama and #20 Auburn will do battle in what should be an excellent Iron Bowl showdown. The Tigers can end any hopes of their rival reaching the playoff with a victory. #12 Wisconsin visits #8 Minnesota for Paul Bunyan's Ax - where the winner will also get the chance to take on OSU in the Big TEN Title game. Of course, other excellent in-state showdowns will be taking place as well - with Washington - Washington State in the Apple Cup & Oregon - Oregon State. Texas A&M is at LSU and #3 Clemson will take on South Carolina in their big rivalry showdown, where the Tigers are heavy, heavy favorites. And of course there is the Bedlam showdown between #21 Oklahoma State & #7 Oklahoma from Stillwater tomorrow night. We've also got Florida-Florida State & Notre Dame @ Stanford. Wow, what an end to the regular season! The real question now is, who will be left standing when the dust settles? As always, make sure to check back next week for another updated College Football Ultimate Top 25. Thank you all for your support & enjoy all of the holiday weekend action! It's a heck of a weekend for college football!
