What a wild season it has been this year in the NFL. Ups and downs, multiple high level injuries and multiple jobs lost after poor seasons. While for the most part, the majority of top seeded teams made the playoffs, quite a few that were predicted to do well did not even make the playoff.

Before the season started, I made a prediction in a previous steemit post of the teams that were going to make the playoffs. They were as follows

  1. I also predicted that the Steelers would face the Rams in the Super Bowl. Here are the teams that actually made the playoffs  1. New Orleans Saints

2. Los Angeles Rams

3. Chicago Bears

4. Dallas Cowboys

5. Seattle Seahawks

6. Philadelphia Ea

AFC :

  1. Kansas City Chiefs

2. New England Patriots

3. Houston Texans

4. Baltimore Ravens

5. Los Angeles Chargers

6. Indianapolis Colts

Four out of six isn't too bad for the AFC side, but I definitely failed miserably on the NFC side, guessing only three correctly. To make matters worse, the Steelers didn't even make the playoffs, failing miserably down the stretch, ultimately making my Super Bowl prediction a bust

There were a few surprises this year. To start was the Kansas City Chiefs. I did not expect them to play with the offensive efficiency that they have, especially with 1st year starter Patrick Mahomes at the helm. However, he has silenced doubters on the way to the #1 seed in the AFC. They might fight some struggles in the playoffs, after they jettisoned their running back Kareem Hunt after a less than positive video leaked of him committing an act of violence. However, they have still been a big surprise. Another surprise in the AFC was the Colts. Nobody expected them to even contend, especially in a division with the Texans, Jaguars and Titans. However, the Jaguars struggled mightily and the Titans were a middle of the road team, allowing the Colts to surprise everyone and sneak in as the #6 seed.

In the NFC, there were three big surprises. First, was the terrors of the Midwest, the Chicago Bears. The Bears made quite a few moves in the offseason to better position themselves to contend, but nobody expected them to be that dominant on defense. Khalil Mack has been a menace and the offense has followed suit behind the play calling of coach Chuck Nagy. Quarterback Trubisky has them firing on all cylinders and their double-headed running attack of Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen has them playing fast and physical. The second surprise was the Minnesota Vikings not making the playoffs. The Vikings were one game away from the Super Bowl last season. They signed Kirk Cousins in the offseason and he seemed to be the missing piece to get them over the hump. However, the Vikings struggled with injuries and poor play out of the Offensive Line, ultimately causing the dismissal of Offensive Coordinator John DeFilippo. The Vikings had a chance to make the playoffs the final game of the year, but ending up coming out flat against the division rival Bears and missed out. The third surprise was the Dallas Cowboys winning the NFC East. Touted as America's team, the NFL has been waiting for the Cowboys to show up again and make the playoffs. It didn't look like it was going to happen midway through the season, with the Cowboys siting sub .500, but a trade with the Oakland Raiders for Wide Receiver Amari Cooper proved to be the difference for them. The Cowboys went on a run and secured the NFC East title, setting up a first round battle with the Seattle Seahawks.

Overall, it has been a fun season to watch and expects to be an even more fun playoffs.

I predict that the matchup for the AFC Championship will be

Kansas City Chiefs vs New England Patriots

And the NFC Championship matchup to be:

New Orleans Saints vs Los Angeles Rams

With the Super Bowl matchup of

Kansas City Chiefs vs New Orleans Saints

And the Super Bowl Champs to be the boys from Louisiana, the New Orleans Saints!
