Growing up in the Bay area, I had many teams that I could potentially follow and like. The Niners, Giants, Sharks, Warriors, Kings (although Sac Town is like 2 hours away, Sacramento, for those of you who don't know the slang :)), Raiders, A's, and Earthquakes. I will admit I am only a fan of the Niners, Giants, Sharks and Warriors. haha. I could just never get behind the A's and Raiders, and didn't follow soccer, although I am always happy if the Earthquakes win.

When I heard the news that the Raiders would be moving to Las Vegas, I was intrigued. My first thought was, "It is about time Las Vegas got a Professional Football team." I think it will be good for the fans in Vegas and great for the teams, especially those that will travel there to play. And it will be good for the City of Las Vegas. But it seems that the City of Oakland is not too happy. There is a potential lawsuit in the works and if that happens it could cause The Raiders to leave after this season. The new stadium in Vegas is not scheduled to be ready until 2020. So the Raiders would need to find an interim home for one season.

The potential lawsuit is a multi-million dollar anti-trust, that the City of Oakland would file against the Raiders and the NFL. If the city of Oakland wins they could see upwards of $500 Million from the Raiders and the NFL. Right now the team is negotiating extending the lease of the Oakland Coliseum until the Vegas one is finished, but if the City intends to move ahead with the lawsuit, Raider's team executives figure, they should just tear up the contract, and go elsewhere for the 2019 season. There is still a chance the lawsuit won't happen it seems, and I don't know all the details on if there is even enough grounds to give the City of Oakland a shot at even winning. But I was interested when I came across the news this morning and thought I would share it with you all.
