A very strange story is emerging today surrounding the owner of the New England Patriots being charged with the solicitation of prostitution. Apparently Robert Kraft was video taped on two different occasions paying for a sex act. Many rumors are still swirling about the situation and there will allegedly be more names surfacing over the next few weeks.
The news raised lots of questions surrounding this situation and the possible implications on both the NFL and the New England Patriots. Owners are supposed to be held accountable by the NFL player code of conduct and I am very interested to see how the NFL handles the situation. In the past we have seen the NFL take immediate action against players for off field behavior before a court of law reaches a verdict on the player. Will the same swift action be taken against Kraft? It is doubtful.
The Patriots seem to play by a different set of rules than the rest of the league. The franchise has been openly caught cheating on two separate occasions and never received more than a light slap on the wrist. With the franchise being so huge for the NFL and Kraft being one of the most visible owners, I'm going to guess that the NFL shies away from any major action against the Patriots.
The Patriots have been morally corrupt for years and will never be held accountable for their actions. It's sad to see a franchise flourish on the backbone of cheating in the shadow of a man participating in illicit sexual acts with prostitutes. There will be no justice against Robert Kraft and there will be no meaningful punishment against the New England Patriots.
You can cheat, you can lie, you can be a criminal. As long as you don't kneel for the anthem, you can be part of the NFL.
