Alex Smith, QB (Wash)

Smith is probably a player that you didn’t expect to be at the top of this list. 368/4, 363/3, and 243/3 are Alex Smith’s yards and touchdowns for the first game of the season the last 3 years. Say what you want to say about Alex but he flat out lights it up in the first game of the season. I see this trend continuing this year against the Arizona Cardinals.

Alex Collins, RB (Bal)

Alex Collins is a top 10 running back in the league that racked up 973 yards rushing in limited starts last season. The Ravens will run their offense through Alex this year until Flacco shows he can light a defense up through the air. First up on the schedule are the Buffalo Bills who had the 29th ranked defense against the rush in 2017. Look for Alex Collins to have a good first game of the season.

Michael Thomas, WR (NO)

Michael Thomas has been Drew Brees favorite target since he has been in the league. Things won’t change against the Buccaneers undersized corners. They’re scrappy but they won’t be able to match Michael Thomas’s speed.

Jack Doyle, TE (IND)

Jack Doyle was one of the most consistent players the Colts had last year. I expect Doyle to have a career year with Andrew Luck back. Andrew Luck will go through growing pains in his first couple of weeks due to his time away last year. Jack Doyle will help him get through these growing pains this week against the Bengals.

Ravens, D/ST (Bal)

The glory years of the Ravens defense are over but they still have CJ Mosley, Terrell Suggs, and Eric Weddle. This week’s matchup is Buffalo starting quarterback Nathan Peterman. Does anyone remember Peterman’s 5 interception first half on his first start? This defense will feast this week and possibly get a Josh Allen sighting.

Matt Prater, K (Det)

Any time Matt Prater is at home he is money from any part of the field. The dome venue helps him a lot with this.
