The vast space of sports betting has shown us that there’s an amalgamation of betting styles you can use, including prop bets. This form of betting has become so popular in NFL betting as the event has an abundance of talented players and an array of game-changing outcomes.

But first - what is a prop bet?

Likened to fantasy football and quite similar to futures, a proposition bet or a prop bet lets you wager on an individual player achieving a feat, or a particular event happening. Depending on the matchup, a whole team or a single player may be available for a prop bet, but most sportsbooks offer the latter.

So if you’re looking for betting opportunities other than the conventional betting lines you’re used to, prop betting is a great way to put your football knowledge to good use. Below are my recommended prop bets following the oddsmakers at Nitrogen Sports with their NFL Prop Bets 2019 for the regular season.

Most Rushing Yards

Saquon Barkley

The playoffs are looking good for the Giants with Saquon Barkley’s return. Last season he finished with 1,307 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns which made for a remarkable debut season. Barkley’s entry gained traction after showcasing his skill set straight away. Although much of his skills were watered down towards the end of the campaign, I’m quite certain that this year speaks consistency.

Lamar Jackson

You know the signs of a true rising star when you see one. With 695 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns, Lamar Jackson stunned everyone after breaking Michael Vick’s record for most rushing yards by a quarterback without starting a game until week 11. No wonder he’s branded as the best 21-year-old QB in history, standing firmly among the top NFL Prop Bets 2019. That’s a huge title to bear, and we’ll see if he can live up to it as he’ll be part of the draft all the way from week 1.

Most Receiving Yards

DeAndre Hopkins

As for the receiving department, the Texans may be having the edge with DeAndre Hopkins positive to surpass his 1,572 receiving yards, 11 receiving touchdowns in 2018. It’ll be hard to top that, but knowing Hopkins, he’ll be on a mission to propel his career along with QB DeShaun Watson to complete the WatKins agenda - more catches, yards and touchdowns in 2019.

Michael Thomas

However galvanized Hopkins’ career may be, Michael Thomas’s receiving stats can’t be overlooked either. 1,405 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns are totally impressive. With an 85% catch rate that made him a clear front-runner in the league, Thomas makes NFL betting a little easier to execute for bettors simply because he just doesn’t disappoint.

Most Passing Yards

Tom Brady

Do we even need to justify this? 4,355 passing yards, 27 passing touchdowns, 11 interceptions - we can just leave it all right there. Some are worried that losing Rob Gronkowski to retirement and center David Andrews for health reasons might slow down the Pats’ QB to MVP, but it’s pointless to underestimate Brady’s skills at this point. The chances of Brady pulling off a major upset are still at bay.

Patrick Mahomes

The NFL Prop Bets 2019 may have Brady written all over it, but perhaps we haven’t been looking close enough. If there’s someone with superior passing skills that make the others look measly, it’s Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs. He has 5,097 passing yards, 50 passing touchdowns, and 12 interceptions under his belt which made for a phenomenal breakout season. This season will be no different.

When making a prop bet for the NFL, all points lead to the popular or the favorite. But arriving at the best decision requires more than that; you’d have to consider the numbers, the odds, and the game itself to pick the right player and turn the fantasy to reality.
