For weeks many of you have been asking me when I would be launching a new competition after my NCAA and NFL survivor contests. While those contests are still running, most of you (myself included), have been knocked out. I decided to start another competition because of the support you've been showing these contests and because it's a lot of fun (although it does take some time to manage).

I'd like to introduce you to the Second Chance American Football Challenge. I want this to be fun and relatively easy while still being a challenge, and I think you'll agree that this format accomplishes that. Read the full rules below.

Note: After these contests end, I plan on taking a break from hosting contests so I can get back to writing more about sports and work on a new initiative to help unrecognized writers here on Scorum. Stay tuned for more on that.

Rules 

  • Each week, you must select 1 NCAA team from the eligible games (listed below) to win and 1 NFL team from the eligible games (listed below) to win. 
  • Unlike my survivor contests, you do not have to worry about picking different teams each week. 
  • Each participant is allowed a single loss in the competition. When you miss a second game at any time during the contest, you will be eliminated. 
    • Example: This week your NCAA team wins but your NFL team loses. You are still alive. In two weeks, one of your picks loses again, you are out of the competition. 
  • If you forget to enter your picks, that is considered two losses and you will be eliminated. 
  • The last player alive without two losses wins the competition. If the last remaining players are eliminated at the same time, they will split the prize pool. 
  • Enter your picks below in this format:
    • NCAA: Notre Dame NFL: Cowboys

As you can see, I'm picking the toughest games, so this will be fun and challenging, and yes, it could end quickly. This is why I'm giving each player a free loss. Remember to choose just one team from an NCAA game and an NFL game.

You will have until just before kickoff on Saturday morning to make your picks for BOTH. You need to make your selections by 10:30 AM CDT on Saturday, September 29. I'd say make them now so you don't forget!

My Picks

Of course, I'm playing too :-). Although I do think BYU will keep the game close, I'm going with Washington as my NCAA pick and for the NFL (man this is hard!)... I'll go with the Cleveland Browns. I can't believe I'm doing it, but I think they will win in Oakland.
