6:57 AM CDT: The Rams added 10 points, winning 33-13, ruining coach Gruden's debut. New coaches finished 0-7 in week 1.

11:59 PM CDT: Rams 23-13 and I'm headed to bed. The Raiders still have time to mount a comeback with 9:19 left in the 4th. Thank you everyone who stoppeed by!

11:54 PM CDT: The Rams are trying to close out this game and Todd Gurley is helping them do it. After Jared Goff threw a touchdown to Cooper Kupp, the Rams stopped the Raiders offense and are now driving down the field with under 11 minutes left.

11:20 PM CDT: 7:30 Left in the 3rd quarter. The game is all tied at 13. Both teams look a little sluggish on offense. The Raiders are getting ready to punt again.

10:59 PM CDT:

10:51 PM CDT: Jared Cook is beasting out. 6 Catches for 113 yards in the first half. The Raiders take a 13-10 lead into halftime.

10:35 PM CDT: We're back after a delay. The Raiders and Rams are all tied at 10-10 at the 2-minute warning.

9:29 PM CDT: Now let's talk about Raiders vs. Rams. The Raiders are off to a great start as Marshawn Lynch gets pushed passed the goal line for a touchdown. 7-0 Raiders with 10:23 left in the 1st quarter.

JETS 48, LIONS 17 -- FINAL

9:27 PM CDT: I needed a few minutes to recover. Thank goodness that nightmare is over. The Lions have lost 48-17, a truly embarrassing way to start the season. I have absolutely no faith in this team and we're only in week 1.

8:57 PM CDT: OMG!

8:51 PM CDT: Lions miss a field goal.

8:46 PM CDT: The Lions, now down 41-17, are slowly moving down the field with less than 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

8:34 PM CDT: "Daddy, can we root for the Jets?" -- My son Luke. The Jets have scored 21 points in 2 minutes.

8:30 PM CDT: Matthew Stafford has now been knocked out of the game. As if things couldn't get worse.

8:29 PM CDT:

8:28 PM CDT: WHAT HAPPENED!!?? I walked away to fix food for my boys and the Lions are now down 31-17!

8:07 PM CDT:

8:05 PM CDT: TOUCHDOWN! To end a beautiful drive, Matthew Stafford connected with Golden Tate. We are tied! 17-17.

7:58 PM CDT: As we go into the 3rd quarter, there's not much to be happy about as a Lions fan other than the first play from scrimmage (interception, touchdown). There have been penalties, injuries, and lackluster play.

7:43 PM CDT: FIELD GOAL! Right before the end of the half, the Lions add a field goal, trimming the Jets' lead to 7. 17-10 Jets lead going into the half.

7:33 PM CDT: After a 40+ yard completion to Robbie Anderson, Sam Darnold has thrown his first NFL touchdown. The Jets now lead 17-7.

7:27 PM CDT: Enough said

7:08 PM CDT: Lions miss a field goal. It's still 10-7 Jets and the Lions fans are booing.

7:06 PM CDT: It's early, but this game is pretty depressing. That's the life of a Lions fan. Penalties, turnovers, bad plays, etc. 🙁🙁🙁🙁

7:02 PM CDT: A terrible play followed by an incredible play. Matthew Stafford throws an interception and then second-year receiver Kenny Golladay made a brutal hit, forcing the ball free and then recovering the ball. Great effort Golladay!

6:57 PM CDT: 10-7 Jets. The Jets have had the ball for 13 of the first 15 minutes of the game. There is 14:57 left in the second quarter.

6:55 PM CDT:

6:53 PM CDT:

6:50 PM CDT: The Jets have the ball and are threatening to score.

6:43 PM CDT: 7-7 -- Jets score on a 6-yard rushing touchdown by Isaiah Crowell.

6:34 PM CDT: NOOOOOOOOOO!!! Star cornerback Darius Slay is down with what looks to be a very serious injury. This is terrible news for my Lions.

6:28 PM CDT: The Lions force a punt after a nice Ziggy Ansah sack. The Lions have the ball with 8:36 left in the 1st quarter.

6:26 PM CDT: Comments from the peanut gallery. Good to see you Chops! You're right, my beard game is weak right now.

6:21 PM CDT: The game is underway and the Lions are already up 7-0! Jets rookie Sam Darnold threw an interception for a touchdown on his very first career pass!

7-0 Lions. Currently 12:30 left in the 1st quarter.

6:07 PM CDT: The comments are coming in. Thanks @fitness.life and @kaybee123!

6:03 PM CDT: The Lions were dead last in the NFL in rushing last year and Patricia said they will run the ball. With four solid running backs on the roster, I'll be looking for how he rotates this committee and how often the Lions run the ball.

5:59 PM CDT: The Lions rarely play a strong game from start to finish, and they looked very rough in the preseason, going 1-3. I'm interested to see if Matt Patricia can get this team to put their collective foot on the gas pedal and not let off the gas for the entire game.

5:53 PM CDT: Less than 20 minutes now! Now that I have my hat and jersey on, it's really gametime!

5:41 PM CDT: I challenged our friend @thebull to a friendly wager on the Rams vs. Raiders game. I have the Rams -6.5 for 2 SBD. No bets on the Lions because I don't want to jinx their chances.

5:37 PM CDT: My brother is ready for the game!

5:26 PM CDT: We are less than an hour away from kickoff and I am stoked. GO LIONS!

New York Jets @ Detroit Lions (-6.5) 6:10 PM CDT

The Detroit Lions try to win their first game under new head coach Matt Patricia as they take on the underdog New York Jets. The Jets will unleash rookie quarterback Sam Darnold against a fierce and healthy Lions defense.

The Lions are favored by 6.5 points and playing in front of a home crowd, but anything can happen.

As you may or may not know, I am a passionate and long-suffering Detroit Lions fan. If you don't have a dog in this fight, join me in cheering for my Lions!

Mikey's Prediction: Detroit Lions 24, New York Jets 20

Los Angeles Rams (-6) @ Las Vegas Raiders 9:20 PM CDT

The Raiders are in a tough matchup against one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl in the Los Angeles Rams. The Raiders traded away their top defensive player weeks ago (Khalil Mack) and look to be more interested in their future than their present.

I'm predicting a massive blowout, and would be surprised if the Raiders are able to keep this game competitive.

Mikey's Prediction: Los Angeles Rams 34, Oakland Raiders 10
