I am thrilled to announce my 164th Scorum Sports Cast! You can find me @thesportsguru and I will be giving you the best 5-10 minute sports rants here on Scorum every day. On today’s episode I will talk about the painful Chicago Bears loss.
OUCH! That one hurt and will definitely sting for a bit. Is there anything worse in the sports world than the morning after your team loses in the playoffs? Or when Kevin got dumped by Winnie on the Wonder Years? Or when Sam Malone turned off the lights at Cheers for the last time? Or when Ross and Rachel were on a break? We all know these feelings all too well. And that is how I fell right now.
DEPRESSED. SAD. DEFEATED.
This isn't the first time that we have felt sports related heartache in the Windy City. We had to wait 108 years for the Cubs to win the World Series. And one of those years is still painful when I think about it. This one reminds me of when the Cubs lost to the Marlins in the 2003 MLB Playoffs when Steve Bartman tried to catch that baseball.
I also feel bad for Cody Parkey, the Bears kicker. He is the most hated man in the city right now and I am sure that he is getting death threats by several dumba$$ jerks. I am not mad at him though. He missed a field goal. He didn’t do it on purpose. He simply missed. We all miss shots or strike out from time to time. No one is perfect.
Almost instantly last night the Cody Parkey memes came flying to my phone and on social media. This one was the first that I laughed pretty hard at, I must admit. It portrays Sandra Bullock from the hottest movie on Netflix right now, Bird Box.
I put the blame for this loss on the Bears head coach. I love Matt Nagy and am happy we have him. But he made some boned headed moves, like going for 2 when he didn’t need to. And how in the hell did he give the Bears best offensive player the ball only 4 times? Cohen had 1 rushing attempt and 3 catches for 27 yards. That is why they lost.
Throughout the whole game I kept telling my wife, Brittany, that when the Bears win we will throw one hell of a Mike Ditka themed party for the game on Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams. Everyone would wear a mustache and look like Da Coach. But that party will have to wait until next year.
The good news is that the entire Bears defense will be back next year, Mitch Trubisky will be even better, and the sun will rise again. It always does. But for today, the rain is coming down and the clouds are out as the city is mourning the end of the season…
I would love to tell you all about it in my new Scorum Sports Cast. To check out my 164th show just click the play button below. I look forward to hearing your input and comments. Cheers!
