On Sunday, January 2nd, 1966, the Green Bay Packers defeated the Cleveland Browns 23-12 in the 1965 NFL Championship Game to win the 46th championship in NFL history. It was the ninth championship for the Packers franchise. The game was held at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. This was also the final NFL Championship Game before the Super Bowl era.
The Baltimore Colts defeated the Dallas Cowboys 35-3 in the 1965 Playoff Bowl on Sunday, January 9th, 1966 to claim third place in the overall standings. The game was held at the Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida.
Cleveland Browns fullback Jim Brown won the 1965 MVP Award with 17 rushing touchdowns and 1544 rushing yards for his third MVP selection.
