Montreal Canadiens captain Max Pacioretty was traded to Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for Slovak winger Tomas Tatar, prospect Nick Suzuki and a second-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Pacioretty was drafted 22nd overall in 2007 by the Montreal Canadiens and spent his entire NHL career till now with this team. After drafted Max played one season for the University of Michigan (NCAA), scored more than a point per game (39 points in 37 games) and already in 2008 moved to the Canadiens system. The next three season he played both in the NHL for the Montreal Canadiens and in the AHL for the Hamilton Bulldogs, improving his hockey and stats. In the ten NHL seasons with Habs Pacioretty scored 448 points (226+222) in 626 regular season games and played 38 playoff games with 19 points (10+9). He won the Bill Masterton Trophy in 2012, was named the 29th Canadiens captain in 2015 and served the following three seasons. Also, Pacioretty was a member of the United States team at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi.
He's known as an elite goalscorer, in the last six NHL seasons, Pacioretty ranks the 10th in the NHL in total goals scored (173). However, the last season wasn't a very good one for Max, he scored only 37 points (17+20) in 64 games with -16 and Canadiens didn't make the Playoffs. This season was bad for the whole team and we'll see how Pacioretty will play in his new team. Only one year of his contract left and Golden Knights got a motivated goalscorer, who should replace James Neal on the roster.
Tomas Tatar, who became a Canadiens player, was drafted 60th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in 2009. In 7 NHL seasons, he played 427 games and scored 228 points (119+109). The last season he started with the Red Wings and was traded to Golden Knights, in total Tomas played 82 games and noted 34 points (20+14).
Nick Suzuki haven't played any NHL game but has a great stats with the Owen Sound Attack (OHL). He was drafted 13th overall by the Vegas Golden Knights in 2017, last season in the OHL Suzuki played 64 games and scored 100 points (42+58), in his OHL career in total he has 234 points (107+127) in 192 games. Suzuki can become a good scorer in the NHL in future.
