I decided to take a break from the 2018-19 Upper Deck packs today, so I dig deep and found a pack of 2016-17 Upper Deck Series One in my bag of hockey packs! I’m taking a run at an Auston Matthews Young Guns Rookie today!
The 2016-17 rookie class was pretty good. Other than Auston Matthews, you also have William Nylander, Matthew Tkachuk, and Mitch Marner, among others. It’s a solid class, so there’s really good potential to get good cards from the 2016-17 Upper Deck packs!

I got a good hit that’s a keeper for my personal collection!
As anyone who follows my blogs knows, I’m a big Canucks fan, so Roberto Luongo will always be a player I collect, even when it’s a card where he’s wearing the wrong jersey! I knew right away this card would go to my personal collection. No eBay for this card! It’s too bad Luongo retired this summer, but I suppose Father Time catches up to us all. I think it’s only a matter of time before the Canucks retire his jersey number. I wish they would have done it this year, but they don’t have any plans for it right now. ☹️
