Weekes began using the number 80 with the New York Islanders for the 1999-00 season, before heading to the Tampa Bay Lightning from 2000 to 2002. After that, he went to the Carolina Hurricanes from 2002 to 2004 and then the New York Rangers from 2005 to 2007, continuing to use the number. However, Weekes switched to number 1 as he left for his final destination in the New Jersey Devils.
