In recent years, Iran’s sport authorities relied on women athletes to be flag bearer of Iran caravan in the sport events in past few years. Currently there is no news of male heroes among the flagship.
Looking at the flagships of Iran in recent years in the Olympic Games, Paralympics, Islamic Countries Games, Asian Indoor Games and now Asian and Para Asian Games, I find that the decisions are quite different from the past, and women are now in the top priority.
After injuries of Kimia Alizadeh, some officials form wrestling and weightlifting federation believed that a man cloud be the flagship of Iranian caravan in Jakarta Asian Games, but task was still entrusted to another female athlete, Elaheh Ahmadi.
After she was chosen as Iran’s flagship, she said:
The Indonesian Asian Games flagship was the exclusive right of Ms. Alizadeh. She is a great champion and has a valuable Olympic medal, and I understand the great values of Ms. Alizadeh. I am thankful to God and all my successes are due to my father's great attention and assistance and my husband's warm support and patience.
Let’s review these years
Women flagship was started in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games that Zahra Nemati was chosen. She is the first archer in Iran's sport history who attended in Olympic Games and Paralympic at the same time.
After that in Paralympics, this task was entrusted to Eshrat Kurdistani from sitting volleyball team to determine that trust in female athletes is more serious.
One year later in 2017 in Islamic Asian Games in Baku, Mahlagha Jambozorg from shooting national team was nominated to be flagship of Iran caravan.
Right after that in Asian Indoor Games in 2017 the country's chess player, Sara Khadem Al-sharieh, was able to carry the flag ahead of other athletes and was named in the history of Iranian sports.
In 2018 winter Olympic Games still a woman, Samaneh Bayrami Baher, Cross-country skiing national team player was announced as an Iran caravan flagship.
Elaheh Ahmadi is now nicknamed " A hero mother" and announced officially as an Iran flagship in Jakarta 2018. she said about this title:
A hero's life is really difficult, especially for a mother and a spouse. Over last five years, my mother, in the absence of me because of my different camps and competition, has suffered a lot and "fill my shoes" for educating my son.
along with my important responsibility of raising my child, I am glad to be Iran's flagship on behalf of Kimia Alizadeh. I was really surprised and gave God me this great honor.
